What post is the link in? I've searched this whole page and didn't find it. When referencing a certain post, it seems like a good idea to include the post number. :-)
He really needs another lighter weight wheel chair that he can cram into the back of a Mustang or safely hang on a bicycle rack. as it stands he has to go up and or down a full flight of stairs on his butt backwards then somebody has to carry the wheel chair up or down. not easy."
Does Wayne have any assistance other than his daughter on the weekend? Wonder if he or anyone has contacted his health insurance co to see if they can provide in-home assistance? Feel helpless here in Va trying to come up with help for him. My wife asked me how he's getting his meals, how he's bathing and what if he falls? There must be some type of help for people in his circumstance.
Right now, I have been getting assistance during the week from Saint Vagrant, GuzziKnight, a long time motorcycle/work friend Roy Hoisington, and even Dilliw traveled down.
The up/down stairs thing is not much of an issue as everything is upstairs, nothing but the garage downstairs. I just need someone to carry the wheelchair down the stairs to get to a vehicle occasionally.
My short term memory sucks, it always did. Vicky was always my personal assistant remembering appointments, etc. Now I need to make these electronic boxes that I have work for their existence. Trying to track the schedules that are starting to pile up. A couple of people mentioned keeping a journal, so in my spare time I poke things into my phone.
Yes, falling is a concern. They made it very clear that a fall can re-fracture my pelvis, which is a very bad thing.
But my #1 concern is 50 miles away in a long term care facility. I only hope that there is some improvement soon. Whatever you personally believe might help her, please send it her way.
Bouncing up and down stairs on a fractured pelvis and powering such maneuvers with a broken wrist strikes me as an issue.....Stairs! Danger Will Robertson!....
I've been doing a journal on the computer since I retired in '92, so I know what happened every day, but without it most of what has happened since March especially would be in the fog. I think it would help you..
If it isn't a motorized chair, wouldn't s second chair be an answer? Keep one on the 2nd floor, and one at the garage.
So, are they giving any prognosis on Vicky? Nice hardware, btw..
Wayne. I can't imagine how you must feel on this holiday weekend; but wanted you to know that we've not forgotten about you and Vicki. You are both in our prayers daily, and our thoughts throughout the day. Am not going to wish you a "merry" Christmas, but will instead pray you have a miraculous one and that God grants you both comfort and healing. May God bless you both.
Wishing you both the best on this Christmas Day. Prayers for your recovery.
I have only met one or two on this forum but feel a kinship and enjoy reading posts both motorcycle and personal. My wife was diagnosed with terminal breast cancer 15 months ago so I know what it means to have the support and care from family and friends. No matter your religious beliefs the power of prayer is mighty, so thoughts and prayers for a full recovery for you both.
