The outpouring of sympathy here for Wayne is a telling and touching statement of how Wayne is a pivotal part of Guzzidom.

Last night, the day after he lost Vicky, he sent an email around to Georgia Guzzisti that is so representative of why he is beloved. When he might understandably have simply forgotten or set aside any responsibilities of his local leadership, he was, instead, worried about others and the monthly supper meeting:

"As many of you know, in late November, Vicky and I were hit by a DUI driver. Vicky was in a coma for the past month. Sadly, last night, she passed away. I am confined to a wheelchair for a few more weeks.

Needless to say, I will not be planning our monthly gatherings for a while. If anyone would like to have a gathering, let me know what you want to do, and I will broadcast it."

Wayne has a lot on his plate just now, but he continues to think of others.

While I never have met the Orwigs, I feel via this wonderful forum that I have known Wayne for many years and have always enjoyed reading his posts. I am very sad to hear about their accident and will monitor this forum to keep in touch with their situation. What terrible news.

Wayne, I was reading a fb post from a friend of mine, who's brother had recently passed,,, included in the comments were these words on grief from a wise old man, I found them very comforting,,, and immediately thought of you,,, I hope in time, they bring you and your family some comfort as well

We've never met. We'll likely never meet. I followed the events as they unfolded. I imagined myself in your circumstances. I hoped that things would work out for you and I'm genuinely saddened by your wife's death. But I'm also amazed and encouraged by what I've seen here. You and your wife have clearly enriched many people's lives and that doesn't just disappear.
