Honda fork seals on Convert

Well I put cb750  seals and boots on. The Honda has steel sub structure ,unlike the floppy boots on the Guzzi. A lot of work but worth it imho.With the new fac damper, springs It does handle better but when I hit a sharp bump there seems to be a noise that I am not used to. Maybe it is just the nature of the beast.

Looks good. What year CB750 were the dust wipers for?

When you installed the FACs, did you use the nuts (that locks the damper rods to the alloy extensions) that came with them or did you reuse the nuts from the original dampers? The nuts that come with the FACs are a 12 or 13 mm hex and can rub the inside of the springs, making an odd noise and possibly causing binding. The original nut is 11 mm and doesn't.

Fork seals are nothing more than relabeled end shaft seals. Same with rear drive seals, transmission seals ets. I just got a buddy of mine 3 TCM end shaft seals for the read drive of his BMW GS's for less than $10 per. If he got them through BMW they were something like $45 a piece.

Yes I used the fac nuts. I had read your post about the smaller factory nuts and checked that the new nuts had  clearance.

It almost sounds like the fork oil is being forced  through a hole explosively. I know that was useful :wink:I would use the word compressed rapidly but of course liquids don't compress.The word "fart" denotes gas compression.I thought about too much oil could be reducing the volume in the fork making some sort of noise.I have 2oz oil per side.Since the fork is not vented to atmosphere I could see some rapid pressure increase increase but not much.I dunno.
