Strap loops installed on a Griso?

Anybody install something like these loop type attachments on a Griso? 

I'm sure the existing set up works but I think having loops would be a more positive attachment.

Thanks Sheepdog,  do you leave them hanging when not in use or do you loop them around every time?  do you think they might fall off eventually if not in use (tensioned )? 

Ideally I'm after a hard attachment.  Maybe these would work

Rock climbing bolt hangers......powder coated 4mm (thk)  Stainless steel that fit a 10 mm bolt.

I don't have a Griso "yet" so if there are comments on the practicality of installing them I'd appreciate it.

I generally only use them when needed and keep them in the tank bag when not in use. However, if you install them on the frame rails under the seat, they generally stay put.

I find that the factory ones work quite well. I strap a tail bag down with standard bungee straps often and have never had one come off. They have a pretty prominent knob on the end to prevent that. I think they make it easier to unhook things as well as you don't have to thread the bungee hook through a loop. Maybe give em a try before you commit to a change.

Are you going to get a Griso ? Sounds like you're the man Norm, try 'em out when you get your bike mate and let's know what you found out, that will be better advice than what someone else "thinks". Look forward to seeing your bike when you get it. Are you about to close a deal ?

The stock bobbins have an Allen hex countersunk screw that holds them to the frame rails through the tailpiece. The bobbins have a step to allow them to tighten down without damaging the plastic of the cowl.

Any alternative would need to be able to take that into account. Having said that I've never had issues with the bungees I use for my tail bag but at the moment I've got the factory racks on which bolt up to the same place as the bobbins so I can't take any pics and stuff. Something like those climbing bolt hangers look like they could work though with a spacer, or even underneath/on top of, (Depending how you look at it.  ) the bobbins. Use a standard Allen bolt instead of the countersunk ones and you move the plate far enough from the plastic to prevent the bungee hooks scratching the bodywork.

Yes I've made a deal on a Griso that I'll pick up in the Spring!!  I admit that my head is in overdrive thinking about it, hence all the questions.......  It will be a long hard winter

I use a cargo net on the bobbins...never had an issue. I am able to use any combo of bobbin/hook to get the right tension. Same setup on the Stelvio and no issues there either.

Consider Knight Design if you could use more room in the foot peg area.
Make sure you spend the time to set up the suspension correctly. They are often set up VERY poorly with way too much comp damping.
I lowered my forks all the way down in the tree (last line) and it sharpened handling quite a bit.

It will stay like this probably until March.  Then there is always the possibility of more snow/salt in until April.
 
I made a small down payment to the dealer and he'll store the bike until I can give it a good long break in run.

What colour is your new Griso? Is it an 8V rollerised? You are very patient, I'd be totally unbearable,(even more so than normal). Can you get to your dealer daily to say hello? I saw a beautiful bluish/silver one in London recently, I don't know if it was a 1200 or an 850, but I thought the valve covers looked a bit different than usual, sorta squarish. I've never ridden an 8V, maybe it's better that I don't, mine's only a 4V, so I don't know what I'm missing fortunately.

It's a grey/ black 2014.  It's my understanding that the cam follower would have been rollerised at the factory for this bike.

let me know if my assumption is incorrect on that one.  I didn't talk about with the dealer.

As for the dealer he's about 3 hours away. Oh well.
