Calling all Kiwi's or anybody else that might know about motorcycle rental around Auckland/Whangeri.

A friend of mine and I are going to New Zealand in late February/early March and would love to be able to go out and see the north island, preferable on motorcycles.

Does anybody know where you can rent two bikes for a reasonable amount of money? We don't need big touring barges or R1200GS' a smaller bike is perfectly fine. A couple of V7s would be ideal, but it doesn't necessarily have to be Guzzis, any bike will do.

If anybody knows some good rental places and also if anybody would like to suggest any places we should go it would be highly appriciated!

The reason we are going to NZ is that we will embark a old semifamous sailing boat and will sail from Whangeri to Tahiti. March will be spend in the docks preparing the boat for the trip and hopefully we will be able to go around and see some of the nature in NZ.

this is the boat we're going out on

Colemans in Auckland will rent a Suzuki VStrom ~ $100 per day

Google Guzzi Gander if you must have, a little more money I think but worth it for just a few days.

My friend and I were going for a month so we elected to buy off Trademe

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

The Sv650 or Vstorm 650 would be a fine contender for a rental bike down there. Prices isn't bad either. Will look into it.

...know about motorcycle rental around Auckland...

a search on the words "Guzzi" and "Auckland" will return Dave Gale's Guzzi Gander.  He's a member of this forum, he's easy to work with and his bikes are in top condition.  You need more?

Remember to keep left down here [emoji15]

Depending on how long you have you might consider buying a bike on trademe. Trademe.co.nz.  My bro Roy bought an old Beemer K100 for $2050. Kiwi $ and sold it for $2000 when he left to go back home (Vancouver) . The old girl never missed a beat, well almost - fuel pipe fell off the pump at one stage inside the tank.

My fault for not tightening the clamp up after fixing the pump.

Nice rides to be had coming south from Auckland thru Clevedon along the coast road then on to Coromandel.

Keep left :-)

Guzzi Gander seems to have a good reputation and might possibly do a deal if its a longer hire.

You seem to say you will have a month for riding around and you could spend that quite easily tootling about the North Island. May I suggest though that you spend one week in the North and three in the South Island.  You may have to cherry pick your targets in the North Island if you do this.

Keep Left, Keep Left Keep Left.

I do hope you are going to write up this adventure for us with photos included. (As far as I'm concerned that includes the sailing bit)

Guzzi Gander will be the way to go I believe. We won't have the full month of riding even if that would be spectacular! Would love to roam both islands and also come down to Invercargil. Have to visit the home of Burt Monroe!  :bike-037:

Keeping left shouldn't be a problem, both of us has lived/worked in Indonesia for two years. So it is more strange to come home and ride on the right

If anybody would like to meet up and share some stories we would be much interested

And I promise to make a ride/sail report
