How do I search the 2009 forum posts ? where are they ? or have they gone . looking for tips on getting the rear wheel out of my SP1000 . I put it in there and cant get it out ..... Painfull

 Luap removed the 2009 posts . He did announce about a week before doing so , so folks could save anything they wanted .

 Someone will answer your question re wheel removal . What specific problem are you having ?

There probably isn't an old post with such specific detail.  Why don't you just ask anew?  What have you removed or disconnected so far?  Did you remove the brake caliper from its carrier bracket?  Did you pull the axle?  Have you stabilized the centerstand and asked a friend to tip the bike to the right?  Do you have some 2X4's available?  Are you working on the floor or do you have some sort of table or lift that will allow the wheel to drop away?  Do you have a street curb outside?  Do you have a big tree with a horizontal branch nearby?  Do you have a garage with rafters?  Just describe what you've done and someone will opine about your issue.

did we lose the "search function" ?   I can't seem to locate the button on the page.  Wasn't it on the upper right?

Should we have an archive of maintenance tips and known problems and fixes?  I wouldn't know where to start.

 The search function window has become a bit shy , requiring some pitching of woo to make her appearance . Click on the WG logo , click on General discussion , the window will appear .

 There is an archive , only no one uses it , or posts in it , pretty much useless .

 I have the bike in a little bike Garage !! there is a lot of bad language coming out of the Garage !
 I have the brake off and the axel out i have to jack or lean the bike over to get the wheel out !
Its a bit hard on your own . The dog has been helping andI have it out .. it a bugger of a job on your own .

Obviously, if you don't have a lift, the easiest thing is to find a stout buddy and ask him or her to hold the bike over hard to the right while you lift out the wheel.

If you have to do it alone, here are some options:

Curb:  Roll the bike up onto the sidewalk area.  Place wood planks in the street, 90 degrees to the curb, until the wood level is at or just slightly below the curb level.  Roll the bike backwards onto the wood.  Stop when the centerstand is over the curb and lift the bike on the centerstand.  Remove the wood and you now have 6" of space to drop the wheel.  Don't press down on the back of the bike while it is suspended this way.

Wood Stack:  Raise the bike on the centerstand.  Use a strap from the centerstand to the front wheel to ensure that the centerstand can not collapse.  Gather a bunch of wood strips, 12" long by 3" wide by 1/2" thick.  Lay one piece of wood adjacent to the left foot of the centerstand.  Stand to the left of the bike and gently rock the bike to the right side and use your toe to push the wood under the stand.  Move to the right side and do a similar lean and wood insert.  Move back to the left and stack TWO pieces of wood adjacent to the first piece.  Lean to the right and push the stack under the stand to push out the first piece.  Move to the right side.  Rinse and repeat numerous times until you get perhaps 4" of lift.  Removal is a reverse of the above.  I start by raising the left side.  If you start on the right, the foot access lever of the stand may prevent you from leaning to the left side.   I recommend the safety strap because this technique ends with the bike pointing nose down substantially.  Quite easy to bump it and roll it off the centerstand while there is no rear wheel in place.

I have done both all by myself.  It is a time consuming PITA, but it is doable.  Better if you make friends with strong people and offer beer.  Prior to buying my lift table, I used to hold the bike over to the right while Regina hauled out the wheel.  She's great.

Other options for getting the wheel out:

Edit..I used to do the center stand and lean it over with a helper on my loops, but the center stand looked like it was bending from all the years of tire changes.

Engine lift/cherry picker, remove the seat and trunk if it has a trunk and use a strap to the frame. Jack up as high as need to clear the top of the wheel.

If you have a stout roof in your garage/carport, a stout tree limb or the like. A chain hoist would work and a strap to the frame as mentioned.

I use the engine lift.

All do able but  ... I have the bike in a little long thin shed . pushed it in .... pulled the bike to bits to get it repainted .. cant swing a cat in there ... so snick in with the forklift and lifted the ..... thing up .. all good now

Whatever you do, DO NOT attempt swinging a cat in a confined area. Not only does it upset the cat, but if there is not a clear exit available the cat will use whatever means necessary to go over you. Don't ask me how I know this ...
