A few more Italian bikes from the Guy Webster collection...many did not meet reserve and did not sell.

Back in the day (1978) I bought a new Moto Guzzi 850 Le Mans, exactly like this one...had fun with it in the Hill country, but then sold it when I moved to Arizona, in 1980.  I sold it for $3800...(Sigh).  Who would have thought back then they would bring prices like this today?!?

It seems Guzzis were not what collectors were interested in. Mecum's restored Eldorado and unrestored Ambassador at Mecum looked like real bargains, and the very special LeMans at Bonhams didn't make the estimate. I wasn't there, but now wish I had been. Expected greater bidder interest.

It may be the market is moving away from euro bikes to Japanese bikes.  One example was the restored XS650 Yamaha that sold for $14,000.  As much as many of the restored Bonneville's it copied.  Or the GB500 that also sold for $14,000.  As much as some of the Gold Stars it replicates.  Ducati's were hot.  But most of the other Euro stuff wasn't coveted.  GPZ's and ZR-1's are the new Rocket Gold Star and LeMans 1.  Buy 'em while you can.

Yep, I recognize Dave too!  Does he still have a ton of Ducati singles?

I wound imagine so. He cornered the market on Ducati single engines. He moved out of his little old house in central Phoenix just a little while ago. Lots more space for stuff. But I'll bet he still has that 350 works Ducati in his new living room😀

Believe it or not...MECUM is scheduling another one in June 2017!  They have really taken the auction to the next level from Mid-America!!

There were about 1000 bikes this year!!
