V7 Stone bar end weights.
« on: February 23, 2017, 02:18:19 AM »
I recently purchased some bar end mirrors for my V7. I had a quick look at how to get the original bar end weights out. I loosened the Allen screw and tapped the screw to loosen the wedge in the bars. This did not work. I then went and had another corona and thought about it. I have removed bar end fittings over the years and they always have a logical way of locking and releasing. Not these @&$&@uckers.
Help.

They are not wedges. They are plates held in place by crimps in the bars. If you remove the left grip, or the throttle tube, you can see the configuration.

Unscrew the allen screws all the way, the weights will come off with them.

Think he is trying to remove the insert in the bars that the weights screw into.  I think you need to change bars, you need to "knock" the insert out which I have read isn't easy.  I ended up buying these to mount CRG's to..........

The inserts are not meant to be removed. That was my conclusion. Rather than ruin the OEM bars I replaced them with Brevattato bars.
Not inexpensive but the fitment is almost infinitely adjustable. A pair of round Halcyon barend mirrors and off we go...
