Luggage options for V7II with Arrow scrambler exhaust???
« on: March 20, 2017, 10:24:51 PM »
I find myself needing to carry more stuff on rides. Not for overnights, more for camera equipment. Not interested in tank or soft luggage to strap on the seat (have that). More interested in something I can hang from the open side of my V7II (Scrambler) with Arrow side exhaust. Or possibly the aback rack mount with box style. While the latter seems most practical, it's the least appealing aesthetically to me.

Anyone with the Arrow exhaust and some suggestions/experience?

Thanks,
Nick

no new suggestions. I have soft bags to throw on when I need them, a 17 ltr ocelot tail bag I keep on and a small magnetic tank bag. I can't imagine any hard luggage that would look right on a scrambler type bike. just my $.02

Like Warren, I use soft bags on my Stornello; Wolfman Beta, Wolfman Expedition Dry Saddle Bags, Nelson Riggs Adventure dry bag on the large tail rack and a Wolfman Blackhawk tank bag. They work great but I can understand your desire to have something more protective for camera equipment. I look forward to hearing what you come up with!

I think you can't beat Pelican cases (or similar) for carrying camera gear. Have a look at Caribou luggage to see if they have something you could adapt to your scrambler.

Thanks for the replies.

I contacted http://cariboucases.com/ - and they said they didn't have experience with the Guzzi V7,  and "you will need a side rack, and we fit Givi "PL" type racks, SW Motech and Hepco Becker"

I agree with suggestions for soft bags on the seat. But I already have and happy with Kriega us-20 I have. I need a hard case.

I have the Ventura rack system on my V7 and am 100% pleased.  It can almost vanish when needed and expand as needed with it's modular design.

Does Hepco Becker make C Bow mounts for the V7. Probably. Get a set of those mounts, and one bag if you can. Put the other mount on the shelf.

Don't know, might be worth looking into though.

Did you look at their QFS options? I've used those to make my own Peli-case mount to carry camera gear (albeit for a different motorcycle).

Thanks for all the replies and ideas.
I found examples on Advrider forum:
http://advrider.com/index.php?threads/moto-guzzi-scrambler-thread.1122764/page-13
First one seems to using the OEM side rack and 3rd party soft bag. I assume other bags can be attached. I post that photo here - hope the OPs doesn't mind me sharing the photos here:

and another example - with a rear rack

and a third example - looks like the OEM short back rack (painted red)

As my main objective is to find a way to carry some camera equipment, specifically a SLR and a DJI Mavic Pro (which is pretty small),, I'm think I might get away with the 3rd example - the small back rack and a larger sturdy soft bag - with lots of cushioning. Ideas for such a bag welcomed!

Here's the other side of option 2 above.

Added a small leather saddlebag that holds the toolkit and stuff.  For daily use, the small Pelican holds the normal stuff.  For travel, I add a duffle across the saddle and maybe a magnetic tank bag if needed, and the Nikon goes in the Pelican with its foam cutouts - all safe and dry.
