Product Review: Kriega US-30 bag.

I've been using this bag for a few rides now. It can really hold a lot of material and is easily attached to my V7II with H&B luggage rack, but you could also attach it without the rack.

In this first image, you can see that I was able to pack for a 4 or 5 day trip with plenty of room left over and still room for my pillion.




In these next images (from last night), I was able to pack all my camping gear (tent, inflatable pad, sleeping bag, sweatshirt, water, large book, light and leatherman) and could have added more items. I decided to pack my food in the smaller messenger bag that is cargo netted to the Kriega.








And a few pics from the ride/camp. I love this little black Guzzi and also gives a thumbs up to this bag.

They are good, aren't they. Perhaps a couple of US10s on the sides - one for the tools & spares & one for the kitchen & food - and you are set for even longer trips. I have found that the US 20 fits on the seat easier, but doesn't hold as much. I'm still refining the packing of these. After 18 hours in driving rain, including overnight, I found a little moisture in the top under the fold. That shouldn't happen - I shall have learn to fold the closure tighter.

I just picked up this same bag (US 30) and a US 10 to add to it. I haven't used it yet but was going to try it as a back pack: have you try ed that?
Also which rear rack is that?

One advantage of the US30 is that it holds more. Useful yesterday for parts & tools AND groceries. On either the rack or the pillion seat. I also have the tank bra - the US20 is better there, but I've ended up not using that very much - I prefer a tank bag with a zip for easy access to the contents.

I haven't used the messenger bag strap yet. Will do that eventually.

I've been using my Kreiga 20 for years now as a tail bag.  Both my Griso and Lemans have racks.  In the top pocket I keep glasses, spare ear plugs, neck gator, glove liners, clif bar, quarters for parking, eye drops........you get the idea.   It's a boy scout thing

Luckily the Kreiga system makes it quick for me to remove and install because the only downsides to the tail bag is the near-do-wells might decide to steal it.

I love my Kriega 30, it will hold a LOT. I stuffed a 12 case of beer in it once.

Not sure how I can use it with the V11 Sport. It worked best on the Bonneville when I laid it lengthwise on the seat behind me.



I'm not sure how they package their beer in the UK but I wonder if they tested it out on the case?

I think you may find the V11 pillion seat a little short for the 30. However a rack may help, especially if you can find or make one that is level with the seat. My V11 wears a Ventura rack (sports) and that would work, especially if modified a little. Check it out.

I have a small Kriega- 10 I think? I hate their mounting system. The straps are so fiddly and I always end up with loose ends flapping around. The idea seemed great and I like the bag itself, but the straps are such a pain that I never use it. I think the bigger bags might be better as they would require more extension of the straps.

Yeah, I just bought 30L & 50L bags for a total of $90 off ebay to replace my well worn and slightly ventilated Helen2wheels bags from '06.  I don't think the new stuff will last me one easy season, I have a feeling they'll be showing up on the FS board soon while I forge ahead with my ratty H2W stuff until I find something of equal quality (I hope).
Update:  I shoulda mentioned that as a minimum I take a 3 person tent, Nemo mattress, Kermit chair, camp pillow & zero degree rectangular bag on weekend or extended trips.  My foul weather & other clothing get shoved into the (small v85Travel) hard bags.  I also like to drag along flip flops so I don't have to barefoot a camp shower, camp towel, soap, tooth brush/paste, floss, tennis shoes so I don't have to wear my riding boots to death, swim trunks, couple pair of socks, undies, bug spray, spf50, etc.  There's probably more I'm forgetting about.  Nothing like creature comforts.  No tools, patch kits, pumps, etc. many others drag that crap with them so I don't need to
