Calvin tire question
« on: April 15, 2017, 06:48:02 AM »
My calvin has 140-70-17s on the rear and I'm guessing that's the factory installed size as indidntbbuy new and it had been replaced. When I need a replacement I'm looking at a 150-70-17. Is this size acceptable for the Calvin and should there be any fitting issues. Thanks in advance for any advise or responses. Ride safe my friends!

Well on my EV I use  140/80/17 and a 110/80/18 on front, Metz 880's, last back went for 21K mi and 35K on front.  Sticky enough not to slide in the mtns.

I think there are folks running 150's w/no rubbing.

Stock size is 140/70 x 17.  I preferred this size on the EV Tourings too, I found the bike wanted to weave at high speeds with the larger rear tyre.  My $0.02ยข.

My Vintage came with a 140/80/17. I've replaced it with a 140/70/17. I have a 150/70/ 17 on my EV and when I couldn't get that size, put a 160/70/17 on, which cupped and I took off. These bikes handle the best with a 140 rear tire. The 150 makes the bike just a bit harder to throw in and out of turns. I've even considered going down to a 140 on the EV. I don't know why people want to put fatter tires on their bikes.

Thanks for the opinions, espresso when based on experience. It sounds like I would be better off to stick with the stock 140-70. Thanks fellows for the great experience you passed along!
