Our farm has been a work-in-progress since Nana and I retired here in 2008. Since then, we've built 3 homes and one of them is only now going to its final stage. I've needed a proper garage from the jump, but have made due with a stable and it's accompanying lean-tos, and a nicely appointed tack room. Here I keep my tools, my road-ready bicycles, the scooter, and the motorcycles. After giving up on a new BMW R1200RT-LC as way over budget (and on the heels of our sport-touring discussions), I found a leftover 2016 BMW R1200RS-LC with everything, save the NAV5 GPS unit. It has adaptive and on-the-fly adjustable suspension, ABS, traction-control, cruise, heated grips, shift assist, panniers...everythi
ng, and the price was in my range. I closed the deal by noon. My friend, Jim and I had a great Bar-B-que lunch and then he drove my truck home while I got to know my new bike on the 190 mile drone. After much I-10, I finally hit the back roads and explored the bike's characteristics. It is very well controlled at high speeds, with a superb USD fork of a conventional variety and a computer controlled rear shock that adapts to different road surfaces. A remarkably competent machine that I hope lives up to the high standard that newer Beemers have developed. Gone are the fragged rear ends and the wonky fuel mapping...these LC models are the real deal as near as I could ascertain. So now I happily own one. However, I don't think I can fit any more bikes in that tack room.

Just looking at the ergonomics on that bike, I'm sure I'd like it. Pegs right under the seat but plenty of distance down, and bar position JUST enough to give the rider a little "attitude" ....
Hope it holds up. My Triumph with all the same fancy widgets just got back from its first warranty excursion .... ! Worked out OK this time but could be a bank-breaker if I had to pay .....

Well, it
was
a tack room. I put in drywall, insulation, better lights, an oil-filled heater, and an a/c. I look forward to when this is just a shop. Soon, I hope.
