Electronic ignition for older Guzzi's

Tri Spark have a new electronic ignition for older Guzzi's, they make a good product and I  have personally had good success with their units fitted to my rocket 3 and commando.
I wont be fitting one to my Eldo as the points system suits me fine for how I plod around  and the V7 sport works fine with its Dyna system but thought someone else may be interested although not cheap   cheers Bill

Wonder if they realize the (single-point) distributor housing of the V700/Ambo/Eldo/V7 Special/850GT is much smaller than the (dual-point) timer housing of the Tonti-frame bikes. I can't see how one unit would fit both...

I know the C5 ignition from Paul Crowe works like a champ in my Eldo and sounds like it is a similar set up to the tri-spark.

Nope. Totally different in the size, the way ignition unit would need to mount, the way the "trigger wheel" would need to fit onto the shaft, etc.

C5 sure looks like PowerArc from Gary in Iowa. When they work they are very good on electric start bikes. On kick start bikes they can get confused counting pulses off the toothed wheel and can offer quite an interesting kickback. I have seen enough of the PowerArc fail that I carry a second unit as a backup.

The Australian unit is a magnetic sensor whereas PowerArc (C5) is using a pair of infrared optical sensors. One detects initial "home" position the second counts location away from home position.

C5 is indeed Powerarc, I've used them for years without any problems thankfully.

You could always use a newer distributer body with the gear from a older unit and make that work in a older loop frame. I used a motosplat ignition body to fit a C5 into my Eldo. If the engine was stock I would have never left the comfort of the stock points or probably should have just used a dual point distributer but was having trouble finding one by the time I needed it.

Anyone try Velleman's electronic ignition kit, for a points based system?  I've got a hankering to use it some old non-Guzzi bikes I have.
