I bought a Quota, what the Heck
« on: May 17, 2017, 11:51:25 AM »
So on a  past post, I asked about a Quota. I read the advice both the good and the bad.
Sounded like typical Guzzi Quirkiness going on.
SO lone story short Bought it on Monday  .

By Tuesday Evening

share pics online

Has that horrendous flat spot. And yes its loud. Going to work on that and the flat spot
Other wise so far very happy.

I think you'll like it.  Either my Quota has been fixed (it does have a replacement ECU) or I'm too insensitive to notice (a distinct possibility) any flat spot. There's always a different gear.

Have fun - it looks a beaut.

It *should* have the replacement ecu. The oem ecu made it almost unridable. They can be made to run beautifully. Darth Quota had no fueling issues.

I always thought it had an interesting frame as well, and it isn't often that Guzzi has an entirely unique frame like that for one model!

So I was quite happy you shared your pictures lti, as it isn't very often you see a Quota without it's clothes. :D

Congrats on the purchase! I'm sure you'll enjoy it. I think Quota's are *cool*.

I think they are cool as well.
There was nothing wrong with the bike. Its just what i do when i buy a bike i take it down check out the wiring and put a wrench on it and make sure things are right.
I even did it when I bought a New 2010 Norge back in the day, I pull most of the plastic off and checked the bike out.
Plus it demystifies the bike

Perhaps the aftermarket exhaust made the already lean mapping worse and now the flat spot stands out more?

I had to remap my V11S back in the day after adding aftermarket cans.
yeah, I might be addicted to brake fluid. But I can stop any time I want.

Why not just remap it?

Why not just remap it?
I am reading up on that Not entirely sure how to remap it.
It does have a power commander(not installed) and i have some maps for the Quota for the Power commander.
But other then that.  I dont know where i plug in to re program the ECU I know where the plug is on my Guzzi Norge

I know for a fact that there are bout 30 new ecu's for the Quota. I saw them in a box w/Regonal Tech Rep for this area. Leftovers from the campaign, new updated(most recent) to address issues. If you need one the dealer should be able to locate them.

So you just couldn't resist because it was so close.

Well now I say....

What the Heck ----When's the Hack?   ------   DMC Sidecars is also very close

Also since you have the Quota nekk'd you might consider having the Fuel Injectors cleaned -- I'm running an Experiment on if cleaning the Injectors is a major plus with 9+ year old Guzzi's

Mark  also wanting to Hack-a-Quota

also the unique long intake tubes and single throttle body + x-over in the headers.. according to Dr John W.."it has 25% more torq than a California at 2,500 rpm and retains the same peak HP". credit - Greg Fields book.

Where is it loud? Intake or exhaust? My airbox is topless. The intake roar is addictive.
