New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
I've always said that MOST manufacturers check it unscrewed. That said I think my 13 Stone might have been the first Guzzi I've owned that was spec'd that way (unless I'm not remembering my B11 correctly, which is possible, it's been a while). Not to mention I used aftermarket dipsticks on both the Jackal and B11, and on all 3 I've run the oil about midway on the sticks anyway. Usually cold... Sometimes checked warm.
My V7 had the incorrect/wrong stick installed from the factory!!!
Just double checked my manual - V7 III is to be checked with the bike upright on both wheels, warm, and with the dip stick "fully tightened".
So I won't and I guess will just keep bringing a quart of oil on my road trips. Thanks to all of you for your suggestions. Cheers
Copy and paste from the manual of my 2013 Stone: ENGINE MUST BE WARM TO CHECK OIL LEVEL. THE DIPSTICK MUST BEINSERTED BUT NOT SCREWED IN.IF YOU CHECK LEVEL WHEN THE ENGINE IS COLD, OIL LEVEL COULD TEMPORARILY DROP BELOW THE 'MIN' MARK.And no, Im not yelling, the capitals come from the manual. The bike has to be balanced upright also.
the bike is ruined.I'll give you $500 to take it off your hands.
