NGC: MV Agusta Help
« on: June 03, 2017, 12:12:00 PM »
Hello Lasses and Lads,

My cousin has picked up the only MV Agusta in India.

It belonged to an Italian priest who came down to India and set up an Industrial Training college.

The priest passed away a long time ago and the church helped organise the sale.

The registration book say 1960, and the displacement is 175 cc.

Needless to say, it is in a bad shape and will need a lot of TLC to get it back to showroom specifications.

Now, the million dollar question, who do you approach for spares.

Incredibly, the bike starts....

Will need a Delloroto Carb, tail lamp, speedo meter, headlamp glass, paint, chrome, decals etc.

All leads welcome.

Joji , Ebay or maybe an MV forum dedicated to older MV's . Those are cool little bikes , good luck .

Hmm , Charlie , any chance you have some old MV stuff ?

Some links that might help:

Moto Guzzino will have parts that are common with other Italian bikes of the period.

I've sent an email to an acquaintance that restores vintage MVs. Perhaps he'd be willing to share some of his sources. I'll post them here when he responds.

From Peter:
Parts mentioned are available and perhaps the best is E- bay and try E-bay Italy.  Now there are plenty of reproduction parts, and good quality coming from Italy. I was in Italy back in March for the huge vintage market where they have everything you need for restoring MV, Ducati, Guzzi and Vespa.

For decals I get them online from a company in England called " classic transfers" http://www.classictransfers.co.uk/ - very good quality and easy to deal with.

For spokes there's Buchanans, I've used them many times.

The 175 are more sought after than the 125 and you don't see to many of them in the US.

I think it would be kind of cool and very British to put one of those new Amal Monoblocks on it. The modern manufactured carbs are sweet and very simple units and look great on anything vintage if the correct through-size is available.

175cc should be an easy match. Be sure to look into the Concentric and if at all practical - the GP Series. THEY (the GPs) are gorgeous!

Here too, how you filter the incoming air will be a consideration.

Hello There,

Thanks a ton for the replies.

It enforces the belief, 'Ask, and you shall receive. Seek, and ye shall find'.

Presently, I am in Kuwait, someday, I'll see the bike and will send, 'before and after' pictures.

Fingers crossed and thank you all once again.

Take care and stay well.
