<giant with a blue beard> "Do you sell beer here?" "Why, yes we do," said the bar mistress.
"That's good, for I fear we will need quite a lot of it.."  :boozing:

If my failing memory serves that was Bend OR. Nice little town. Had a university which meant young people, fun and open minds. Don't remember the beer being spectacular but, (Shrug.) there are only three types of beer.

Good beer.

Better beer.

And the third and by far the best type......

FREE BEER!

Just now read this (been busy) and it's really a great trip report, with notes and pictures on all the stuff that we riders like to see and hear about.

Just notes from my head without reviewing it again ...

1) Except for copper head gaskets, I haven't see a gasket yet that I couldn't replace with Loctite 515, so I carry a tube with me on long trips.   Would that have worked for that valve gasket, you think, or is there something trick about it?

2) Great to see two sporty Guzzis out on the road together.   Especially family.   I'll never forget my son and I tackling the IOM for a week on a pair of borrowed MZ 250s.   Makes a man feel good about his life!

3) Big  :1:  :1:  :1: for Wheels through Time.   Dale makes the museum a must-see just by being there and talking and running the old bikes and cars.    His obsession is our pleasure!

4) When I'm riding in the Appalachians, I usually find that no matter how "hard" I'm riding, the beater pickup truck with local boy in it is BEHIND me, pushing to get around .... !

Thanks again!

Lannis

Loctite 515

Probably would have been fine, but I *knew* high temp silicone (very carefully applied) would work. Just familiarity 500 miles from home..

Great Dog and Pony Chuck.

 Just saw, been busy!

When I first started working on my new to me CX I found that the previous owner (how many?) found the best solution to a leaky valve cover is to tighten the bolts!! to the point of striping the threads on all the bottom ones. Many helicoils later!
Always carry a tube of goo on the road!

Cheers!

:-)
I bought a used airhead one time, and the (Pete's) shaved ape that had been working on it decided to tighten her until she loosens and back her off a quarter turn.  I replaced a *lot* of fasteners.
