I just saw the replay of the fight. I don't think robbery is too strong a term. I'll give credit to Horn for going the distance but not the win. It was a unanimous decision. I'd say Manny should've won by 5 or 6 pts.
Home ring advantage for the new champ.
Anyone else see it? It was a tough fight. Not a particularly clean one either.
And as we go on with the conversation, yes fighting is a brutal game. Perhaps those of us that watch it, even occasionally, are supporting something wrong. I won't deny it. I can't watch the MMA stuff but I still see great boxe matches.
I just watched it all the way through (with the frantic and inaccurate ringside commentary muted out) and I had no problem with the decision - matter of fact, I thought it would be closer, maybe split, but still thought Horn won it.
And that's even when you consider that the challenger has a higher hurdle to climb on points in a fight that doesn't end in a KO.
Horn got punished, but he was still bouncing on his toes after 12, not just dragging around surviving. Manny about wore himself out in the 9th throwing punches like a machine gun. Horn got hit, but he was doing some good boxing; got a lot of good punches in, but Manny's tough too and didn't maybe show the effects of them.
Lot of people didn't like the decision, that's for sure, but I thought it was fair ....
