Well, looks like I'm buying a new leftover 2016 Norge. Just waiting to finalize the deal when the credit union finishes their paperwork in a couple days. I'll be having it shipped from.the dealer to my door. Woohoo!

Usually keep it under 5K rpm for 600-1000mi, then 7K rpm and up. After 1st service you can start stretching her legs. They have a short 1st gear w/rev limiter.

I've never bought a brand new bike before, let alone one being shipped to my house. I believe the dealer is fairly reputable. Is there anything I should do before riding off once it's delivered?

I'll most likely be adding a top case. Is there anything on this model that you guys feel is absolutely necessary to change as far as having a great running machine? For example, I removed the evap canister immediately on my v7.

I wouldn't do any modifications until you have some time on the bike to get used to ergos and windshield positions.  About the only thing you could do right away, depending on inseam would be to put lower pegs on it if you find your knees a bit cramped.  I'd ride it with and w/o panniers or top box for a bit to get a feel for how it behaves, anything else is aesthetic (black mirrors vs. silver metal ones), throttlemeister or other.  The bike will smooth out noticeably over the first 10k miles, so I hope you don't feel disappointed if it's not as smooth as you might expect out of the box.

if you're going to be riding a lot at night, a good pair of extra lights would be in order...

It's the white one.

Congratulations! That's the color of my Norge. Motorists often mistake me for a law enforcement officer  and pull over quickly! At least they notice me, and they will notice you on your beautiful new white Norge!

I agree about not changing anything ergonomically just yet, but I would add the Moto Guzzi top case. It is painted to match, and it is very useful.

I hope you love it as much as I do mine...2012....   also white.
My wife calls it "Pretty Girl" ...she says it's like the pretty girls in high school....all the guys drooling.  She gets a little aggravated when we go riding....her on her Goldwing....me on the Norge.....people gravitate to the Norge, and start asking questions.....givin g compliments......an d she says...what is my 25,000 bike....chopped liver. I just laugh.  Happens a lot when I am riding with others...and I love it.
Have put in a lot of 500+ mile days on it.

I'll do my best Dusty! It depends on how my time off is looking at work. Having a bike that was really designed for long rides will be a whole new world for me. I know that my v7 and the klr unused to have could go anywhere too, but they are more fatiguing than something like the Norge.

Congratulations! You will love it. For a fairly big girl she dances well in the curves. The stock screen is pretty good but if you feel the need for more upper body protection check out the Cal/Sci. Mine is the medium. Have been very happy with it and is less than $150.

Good choice!  My 14 white Norge is a wonderful bike.
Take a few moments to set up the suspension.  It really will make a difference.  Don't overlook the small adjustment screw on the bottom of the shock.
Mine is set a half when unloaded and dialed all the way up when on a tour.  This keeps the attitude of the bike much more level which equates to move fun in the twisties.  And as stated, she movers REALLY well for a big girl.

I'll put in a recommendation for an HB rack and topcase. Personally I think the painted OEM ones can become too much paint and I really like the variety of HB cases that are available. Not to mention it's nice to not worry about scuffing paint on a topcase.

That's the one. There's also three in MI listed for 11,500 I think at a dealer up there. Then there the three 2015's in NC, but they didn't really seem interested in selling them.

I just bought the red 2016 Stelvio they had.   Our bikes may be on the same enclosed transport truck next week depending on which direction you are from them.  I'm in Indiana.

The great thing about the H&B cases is that you don't always have to use a key to open it and close it

Yup, at least most of them. One of the five I have (52L Orbit) requires a key for that, but it's a single latch/lock cylinder so it's not bad.

I'd go over the entire bike top to bottom.
What's their interest in a complete PDI on a bike sold cheap to an out of state buyer?  This may or may not apply to these folks but I'd at lease ask the question.

I will go through it, but for what they're charging in prep, it better be right.

I covered PDI with their finance mgr Joe.  He assured me they go over them after initial setup after uncrating, and then go over them again before delivery.  He assured the Stelvio would be perfect.

If it is, I'll give them a five star review on Yelp.  If not, we'll have to see.
