I have to keep coming up with reasons on why she shouldn't even think about another brand. She expressed interest in the Ducati Scrambler, so I started talking about how expensive maintenance is. It worked!

Finally have an ETA, they said between Sept 8-10. Already had to make the first payment on it. Anyone know exactly when the warranty actually starts?

If the warranty period didn't start the day I took delivery, there wouldn't be a need for a warranty because there wouldn't be a sale!

I suspect that's what they'll do for you ....

Got a call from the driver tonight, and he's planning to be at my house around lunchtime on Friday. Then I get to see how disorganized the DMV is, and how many hoops they'll make me jump through.

Congrats on the new bike!

Things I'd do:
  • Red Loctite the bolts holding the end of the muffler on
  • Do the spark plug wire fix
  • Replace the oil pressure sensor with an aftermarket one
  • Add a fuse block off the battery for accessories
  • Add a Powerlet socket
  • Add a Garmin Zumo 665 harness
  • Add visibility lights to the front forks, and extra brake/turn signals on the rear
  • Add a quick-lock tank ring tank bag (like the Quick Lock EVOs)
  • Add a 46L Givi top case
  • Ride!

If you change out the oil sending unit also check the tightness of the oil feed lines to the heads. Mine leaked.

Don't worry.....just ride it at first. Plenty of time to do the above and other customizations .....if needed....or wanted.
My factory spark plug wires and oil pressure sensor have worked just fine.  Only problem I have is keeping gas in the tank

Just had the Norge delivered to the house a little while ago. The dealer didn't include any of the paperwork I need (MS0) like they said they would. I called immediately and voiced my extreme displeasure, and they say it will be mailed today. Now I'll have to take more time off work next week to try and make it legal at the tax office. I took half a day off today to try and get it done.

Are the after market screens just "bolt on" replacements? As in they still can move up and down?

Yes, they use the same mounts as the factory screen.

Two well-regarded choices are to add the Laminar Lip to your existing screen, and the California Scientific replacement screens. I have both of these; I use the Lip and standard during the hot months to get more airflow, and the CalSci in the cooler months to get more protection. Another trick is to add the hand-guards from the Stelvio if you want more wind off your hands.

Can't you just ride with it in the "up" position ?

I'm having a sidecar mounted on my white Norge and there's a white 1200 Sport at the same place also having a sidecar attached.  That guy (who lives in Edmonton - anyone here?) is having the word POLITE painted on the front in reverse text so it can be read in a mirror.  He's hoping drivers will think he's a cop.

It reminds me a of a guy I knew who wrote ALKA SALSA on his helmet.  The adverts at the time said "Alka Salsa - unfuzzes you fast".

The dealer makes some kick-back from the financing firm they're connected to.  They will quite readily deal with the issue, I am certain.  I bought a white 2014 on a similar deal last year (through AF1 in Texas).  I had them put a top case on prior to delivering.  Kinda wish I would have thought of having spare key(s) made before shipping, too.  It's more complicated after the bike is at your location but I'm a large distance from a dealer and that not affect you.

Craig, did you do any other mods or remapping when you put the gpr on?

I had to ditch the stock screen also for the same reason.  No position was workable.
I have a CalSci medium with a Laminar lip.  I get air when it's down and can raise it as needed for weather or temperature.

Craig, did you do any other mods or remapping when you put the gpr on?

It rumbled a bit with the stock map but ran alright.  Beetle had a "No-Pop" map that alleviated that a bit.  I put off putting his Norge 8V map on until I had a likely final on-warranty service done at 6200 miles.  At that point, the new map and Beetle's suggested valve settings were done.  I can't say that it is radically different (a bit more cold blooded) but it runs smoother, revs through the rpm range more easily and I find that I'm driving it faster when I'm not consciously watching my speedo.  Some of this is also due to it limbering up, I think.  I was a bit cautious in break-in riding but at about 5000 miles, I noticed it was loosening up and freer revving.

I think the GPR may be becoming a bit louder as it burns off some packing but I like the mellow tone and it's not really that loud.  I'm running it with both dB killers in place (front and rear) and left the accumulator on.  My general mileage is 42 mpg (5.6 l/100km)  with any of the maps and the plugs look right.  Someone on here commented about not caring for the GPR sound but the Albus I have is very pleasant to my ears and I've had people mention liking the tone (even unsolicited strangers).  I might try recording it and if it turns out to be a worthwhile representation, I'll post a YouTube link.

Thanks for that good info Craig! I likely won't make any changes like that for quite a while. When the time comes I'll have more questions about whether or not the canister under the seat can be removed and other things.

Also, I see the 12v socket under the seat, but what is the other funny looking plug that was hanging out from under the seat?

If you're talking about a small automotive connector type plug with just two or three wires, usually up near the cross brace for the seat, that's the plug for testing and managing the ABS system. People often confuse it with a plug of the same kind that's the OBDII alternative connector used when you are connecting a GuzziDiag setup. It's remotely possible the guys doing setup left the OBDII plug out when they were working, but it's further forward and not as easy to see.

I may be recalling their locations in reverse, but one's by the seat brace and the other's further forward. I should check since it's just about time to do a TPS reset on mine. I do wish they had used different connectors, or at least color-coded the dang things!
