Don't you get bored looking at these derivative, built from a catalog POS?

And a drum brake? Give me strength?

Love it, has just the right amount of funkiness to it.
Front drum looks awesome, and if set up right, would give a few disc's a run for their money..

Cleanly done, but not my cuppa.

Disk brake rear and drum front.  It does make sense if you drive on the wrong side of the road -- backwards.

I had a really tough steak sandwich the other day.  Waaay overdone, and a thin cut.  I'm reminded of it when I see that saddle.  I'll bet they compare evenly for sitting comfort, too.

I'm guessing the 40mm pumpers and dual plugs are screwed onto standard V1000 heads, since they don't mention big valves in the ad.  I did 40s on my Convert once.  If I had dual plugged it(I didn't), I would have had a Convert with 40mms and four spark plugs.  :coffee: The only mechanical difference here is that this bike is not a Convert.  The rest is the same.

But .. is that a "rabid transit" fairing?  That part I like, except for the paint.

Personally, I think it is a nice piece of rolling art. But I don't think it is 50 grand worth of art.
Details like the drum brakes were probably not chosen because they work well or are period accurate (it's listed as a 2008) but they do command attention.
One thing I don't like is a complete lack of front fender. It seems to leave that front wheel out on its own. As in; not integrated into the rest of the bike.
The colour selection of the paint is alright. In different proportions it fit Yamaha's needs for a decade or so. And the flowing lines of the paint remind me of the 'seventies look' so it kind of fits the retro-theme as well.
My guess is it was never built to be a regular ride but targeted at gentry wanting a couple short jaunts to some social gathering as a way to attract attention (Gentleman's Ride for example)... What else would you expect to do with a 25,000 quid piece of art?
One may write one's destiny but the unknown delivers it.

Wow. I wish there were specifics about the engine. Paraphrasing what Rodekyll said, it's just a connie motor with 40mm carbs and twin plugs. for that price I'd expect a light flywheel, camshaft and a little headwork.

The drum would only give even a 1970's disc set up a 'Run for its money' if you don't understand the laws of physics.

Doesn't seem outa line for what folks are willing to pay for toys.

And that sweet Fontana 4LS on a toy? Yes please!

I'd sure like to see a degree of fender front and rear but then, they did not build it for me - unless I write the check.

Part of the fun - keep 'em warm, try not to let 'em get too hot, think ahead and get nervous every now and again.

Folks here are acting like they're a death sentence as though they didn't do their job well enough in their day. Sure, they got replaced completely by discs but so what?

Replaced too were old cars, planes, boats, firearms, Soldiers, employees...

Still pretty and a bit of accommodating - big deal. Look at all the people here trying to keep ancient Guzzi architecture alive.

WHAT!?! With liquid cooling, fuel injection, ABS, oil filtration, etc... Why would ANYONE - EVER keep an old Guzzi around?

THAT drum brake almost steals the show on an already sweeeeet bike :afro:

The drum makes it a serious poseur. Why spend the money on a brake like that if it isn't any good?

Save great drums for vintage bikes and racers, not on 500 lb cafe choppers.

Wow, tough crowd. That POS brake should scrub off all the speed that powerhouse mill could generate.
This is a "Statement Bike". Not a Ducati 1199 Panigale..

While I appreciate the bike and the concept - I'm generally with you there. The cookie-cutter-cafe bike thing wears me out as much as rat-rods in vintage autos or resto-mods in later cars.

Eventually it's just darned socks for me. They can be well darned, I may admire the stitching but they're just tarted up old socks none the less.

Oh cripes, after tazios great post above I had to add to my list of yawn..... Bobbers and street-fighters!

What would float your boat if you had an 850 chassis and a Convert motor sitting around? What else could you really do with that? Certainly not just bring it back to stock, that wouldn`t float at all. Just curious.

Probably do what I've done before and stick a 750 crank in it and long rod it, stick on some mid valve heads and a warm cam with 36mm PHF's, lighten a ring gear and use an alloy flywheel, stuff a ZD box behind it and dress it up like a T3.

I already have a 'Vert.

That would be cool, sounds just like a Cafe Racer without the look.
