Stelvio - show wrong speed and kilometers - SOLVED!

Hi, I have Stelvio 2008 and now show wrong speed on dashboard. For example when I go at 4000 rpm at 6th gear show 19km/h (standard is 114km/h). Trip master has wrong data too. Speed sensor on rear wheel is changed. I cleaned speed sensor connector and dashboard connector, but the problem still persists.

Have you any idea, where is problem?

Try disconnecting the battery for an hour or two. It might reset the dashboard information, and be correct.

Sounds like it may of been remapped with a map with an incorrect speedo correction factor.

A 2008 with a remap is unusual.
@jiri.kaspi, is this something that's just recently happened or has it been like that since you got the bike?

Only other thing I can think of is arcing plug caps, when they do that, particularly on Stelvios, it makes all sorts of weird stuff happen with the dash.

As a 2008 has it been rollerised yet? If not the speedo is the least of your worries......

I had a motorcycle in an authorized service center for regular maintenance. They say they updated the ECU. Since then it has been shown. The mechanic claimed it was a speed sensor on the rear wheel. I replaced the sensor on the rear wheel and the fault persists.

Only other thing I can think of is arcing plug caps, when they do that, particularly on Stelvios, it makes all sorts of weird stuff happen with the dash.

As a 2008 has it been rollerised yet? If not the speedo is the least of your worries......

I have plug caps NGK mod. I have had this problem in the past (with plug caps). Cams also have new versions.

In that case, as Pete said, they've put the wrong  ECU map in. They should return your money for the sensor and install the correct map for your bike.

Today I will try to download the SW from the ECU and look at the speed correction.
I did not buy the sensor, I had it borrowed.

I'm from Czech Republic.

Service was authorized. I assume that the SW are verified online at Moto Guzzi by serial number.

There are two different speedo correction numbers, depending on the hardware your bike has. They are quite different. These are the numbers:

1547 (most common)
or
11811

Whichever number you have, you need the other one![emoji16]

I can send you both maps if you need them and know how to install them. Alternatively I think I might have a contact in CZ who could load it for you.

Having said all that, you should probably as a first step ask the dealer to fix it.

The original map I have backed up. In TunerPro it has a value of 1547. Today I check the current status and then I will contact the service.
In Evening I'll write progress. Now I'am at work. :-(

Well, if you can use Tuner Pro, just enter 11811, save the map and load it back up with the Guzzidiag Writer.


Edit: thinking about this a little more, there is one thing that seems a bit strange. Usually if a map with the 1547 number is installed in an ecu meant to work with 11811, you would get a crazy high speedo reading. You could be going 180 in your own driveway! That's the opposite of what you are experiencing.
Let us know what happens if you change the number.

I downloaded the software from the motorbike, adjusted the correction and uploaded it back. And the problem is gone.
