2017 Isle of Vashon Event
« on: September 11, 2017, 12:58:57 AM »
On Vashon island today in Seattle for the annual semi-secret VME 2 wheel pilgrimage. For most of us by ferry. It made me smile to see so many Moto Guzzis from every era  - I lost count.  :^)   This is the only time I've seen where MC's outnumber the amount of cars on the ferry.

I posted about a month ago talking about this and no one spoke up if they were or wanted to go.

I thought I'd commented in that topic.  Oh, well.  I was riding on Whidbey.  It was a good weekend for it.

I rode over on Friday. Got out of the smoke in Spokane.
Was a beautiful on the West Side during the weekend, even the rain I got caught in Everett was nice despite the down pour.
i rode to the event with  3 other Guzzi's. Never saw you.
I heard you had moved over there

Too bad that I'm living so far away from Seattle, since I would like to attend the Isle of Vashon Event one time also. Although I probably will never make it to Seattle anytime soon, one of my 1100's was at this event back in 1996. Hope you guys had / have a great time up there!

Never saw you either but wondered if the silver Norge on the main drag might have been yours.
Yes.  I love it here. The smell of saltwater and great water views is very calming.  I traded the east side brutal winter weather and no traffic -  for great weather and horrible traffic it seems but year round riding again!  Smile.

One of the fun events at Isle of Vashon is the short track race.  It is done on the shortest track I have over seen.
The circumference is about 50 yards.  Bikes are evenly spaced around the track before starting.  Every time a bike gets passed it is waved off the track so the start is a mad scramble for every inch gained.   Oh, and the direction of travel is clockwise around the track.  This is backwards so that any with racing experience do not have a big advantage.  Engine size is not considered.  Run whatcha brung.  When I have watched, usually something about
100 to 200 cc is the winner.  Number of times around the track is not limited.  They go until the winner passes the second place bike.
Sasquatch Jim        Humanoid, sort of.

I lived on Vashon for a year in the early '90s, and rode the T to work except during frog-stranglers. Would love to get back there for the TT.  Avoiding the slabs it might be a four-day ride up there, winding thru the Sawtooth and over the east shoulder of Rainier.
