Can you tell us more about the gremlin, Mike?Sarah
I sure hope they get it squared away for you. At least you have a longer riding season. I have a cali custom 2015 and did the touring windshield option. I had a similar experience as you with turbulence. Probably not as bad, but bad enough. I added an attachable, adjustable wing to the top which took care of the turbulence, but it makes it tall enough to be in the sightline. As such, I find the bike much nicer with the flyscreen on and it will stay that way except for trips and when it gets cold here.
I'd be concerned either way. Seems strange that 3 fixes maybe didn't fix anything. Do they even know what the real issue is?
...As for the Roamer, I rode it without a screen until the 900-mile service then added the OEM flyscreen. Hated it. The wind hit me right at eye level, making noise and buffeting significantly worse at all speeds. The dealer kindly offered a refund, and I ordered a Dart classic as a replacement. It takes just enough wind off the chest to help at interstate speeds, and keeps the rain out of the dash....
Thanks for the input on the Dart Classic. I had one on my T100 Bonneville. It did the job, so I have contemplated putting one on the V9. I'm also thinking about the Dart Marlin to get a bit more protection, but I'm concerned that it may produce too much turbulence.
There is some debate between the dealer and MG-US. Dealer thinks there is a short somewhere in the wiring harness, snd that the harness should be replaced, MG-US doesn't agree.
Has MG-USA shared the reasoning behind the decision to replace the dash X 3? That doesn't seem very reason-able.Sarah
I also noticed water getting into my Griso dash at every wash, despite low-pressure rinses. Had the OEM flyscreen on that one, and never had electrical problems.
Is shooting any water at your dash good at anytime?Speed reading through this thread, I have so many questions.Yes, a screen will deflect turbulence in and around your face, I've learned that the hard way. Personally, I have found that I am better off with nothing. I prefer clean air around my helmet (and ears). Unless I'm travelling at 80+MPH on a consistent basis, I don't need a fairing.
when the left turn signal stayed on was it dim? that usually means a bad ground. the electrons manage to find a new route nad hence the dim light.
Hah! Sarah used MG-USA and reasonable in the same sentence..
Problem first manifested itself as a 2 amp parasitic power draw at the dashboard, even when the key was off. Needless to say, the result was a dead battery every morning.Later manifestations included the left front turn signal staying on all the time - even when the key was turned off.
Did you check to find which fuse was drawing the current, 2 Amps is unlikely to disappear into the dash board without letting out some magic smoke.Perhaps the left turn signal is the problem. We don't have a schematic for the V9 yet, the V7 is probably similar, that might give a clue.http://www.thisoldtractor.com/guzzi007/schematics/2013_V7_Series.gifI do know the later dashes do act as the flasher,The flasher is initiated by pulling pin 1 or 9 to groundMakes 7 or 24 flashMay be water in the switch causing a partial turn on.3 dashes, what's common, the switch maybe.Read the pinout, see how pin 21 of this dash turns On with the key, find the equivalent pin on the V9 and make sure it turns fully Off with the key, nothing other than Zero Volts.Anything other than zero could be caused by tracking across in a wet switch.
