V7ii Stornello shaft spline lube

While I had everything apart, I did a quick glance over all the nuts and bolts on my Stornello.  I noted 3 washers and 1 nylon spacer missing on the rear fender, 2 M8 washers missing on the tail pipe, and 2 loose bolts barely securing the rectifier.  I admire the design and personality of Moto Guzzi V7ii, but hate to see multiple small discrepancies on a brand new bike.  The nylon spacer (penny washer) is not available at local hardware store.  I ended up ordering 20 of them from UK.  I highly suggest guzzi owners went over every inch of the bike and refer to the parts catalog when suspecting possible missing body parts.

Guess i need to take the swing arm off of my 2015 V7 Stone.  Has 24k miles and never lubed the splines at the tranny.  Burned up my latest rear tire in under 3.5k  while on my 8 day ride to the Dragon and Suches Guzzi meet so the up coming tire change will include swing arm removal! 

Found IRC is making a rode tire that fits the V7?  Gonna try it.

Did the swing arm removal and spline cleaning/lub (moly) both ends, also dissembled cleaned re-lubed the spline sleeve thingy at the final drive.

Got my new rear tire on!!

Not much moisture in the drive but there was some sand???  Rinsed it all out sprayed some corrosion preventive down the tube.  The transmission output splines were dry, starting to see a pattern here.  Cleaned the swing arm bearing faces, cleaned up the pivot stubs coated them with antiseize and greased them all up really good.  ready for the road again.

Boy the Catalytic converters in the exhaust are doing a good job of discoloring the chrome, I suppose that is normal on V7s after 24K?

Can I suggest as regards to the cush rubbers. Some people have suggested a dollop of grease to hold the rubbers in place while trying to replace the back wheel. I think I may have an easier solution and that is to use the thin double sided sticky take available at newsagents to temporarily hold the cush rubbers in place. The use of grease is suspect as I don't know whether the rubbers will tolerate the grease without degredation. The thin tape should give way very quickly under use.

The grease tip has been used for a long time but the tape is a viable option. Thx.

I use a tiny dab of silicon seal on one face of each Cush.  My '15 V7 is on it's 6th rear tire, I changed the last 4 and the silicon works pretty good.

Sorry to wake up with this post.

I'm trying to grease my drive shaft spines. Today I removed the transmission box with the four fasteners. When I removed it, the drive shaft gear pinion stayed in place did not come out with the transmission box. This picture

 tells me that it separates from the box. But it just won't come out. Did I do something or miss a step?
