(NGC) Shot two deer tonight-with a camera that is.
« on: November 15, 2017, 06:06:25 PM »
This evening about 100 yards off my deck. Boy sees girl and they stroll off into the sunset together, well sort of.

Actually I think this may have been an "older woman" sitsuation.

That's pretty John.  Good shots.

However, they can also be dangerous.  Yesterday morning one was hit on a country road outside of town, the car caught on fire as a result of the accident and totally burned up.

But a lot more work. Much easier to post the pictures than process a deer. I'm lazy.

Now I am going to stir the pot. If people slowed down a bit at night, payed attention to their driving there would be a lot less encounters with 'Bambi' and wrecked vehicles. Just the cost of insurance should be enough to wake people. Not mentioning that an officer answering the call of an accident has the right to check your personal device ( cell phone )' to see if you were a distracted driver. Now add a ticket.

Not is this state (IN).  Unfortunately, our legislators have not been able to pass that sort of law here.  Good for you if NJ allows it.

Managing the population in the suburbs would do more than slowing down in your car. There are just too many deer around here.

True in most cases, the guy that hit the deer 🦌 in front of my house the other night was driving under the speed limit. I had a deer run into the side of my car near smithville mo one time. They’re everywhere!

I don't think that "distracted driving" or lack of attention at night is a big problem with deer, although it may contribute.

The scenario of a deer standing in the road, a texting drive not noticing it, and hitting it is pretty rare around here.

In my case, I never saw the deer that hit me because he rammed me from the side.    The last one that did it hit me in the driver door hinge (on a 2002 Buick Park Avenue) and totaled the car.

Four people were killed in Virginia last year when a deer that had been hit by another car came through the windshield of the fatality car.

Here, where hunting with dogs is legal, the deer are running full speed when they hit you.   There's nothing that caution or low speed can do about that.

I do my best to solve the problem by putting a couple in my freezer every year, where they can't get to me, but I'm running out of space ....

Not much you can do when Deer Attack. I am at an age and failing night vision that I prefer not to drive at night. Add this time of year to the mix and I am housebound quite a bit . I have got to get night vision glasses.
Just try to be careful, and stay safe.

Deer are beautiful, but they can be a nuisance.

Here, they are everywhere. I have never seen so many deer elsewhere. They like to walk down our gravel driveway and eat my wife's plants and flowers. If I step outside, they just look at me. Fortunately, our dogs need exercise and love to chase!

At night, I really need to be careful, especially when riding my Norge. And, being a bit up north, it gets dark here pretty early in the winter.

This guy was sticking his nose in the garage while I was working on the R45. By the time I got the camera out and creeped to the door, he was already out by the car.  Technically legal to shoot, but proper firearm was up in the house and I had no deer tag.   :embarrassed:
