Even when you know what's coming, and have prepared as best you could, it is still a heart-wrenching shock. She's in a better place if you believe in such things, if not she's been freed from suffering.

All things come to an end - just the way this universe is. It sucks, but it's gonna happen one way or another. You did better than my marriage which ended with her running off with a mattress salesman. It upset me at first, but in fact, was a very good thing. We'd all like to go in our sleep, but it's no fair when others beat us to it! Cherish what you had, don't regret yesterday, live today, and create a wonderful future.

I can't even imagine what you are feeling now. It would devastate me to lose my best friend.
Memories are wonderful...and depend on friends to help you through this...including the online ones here.

Kent, so sorry to hear. I lost my first wife after 23 years to a medical condition. If I may, time can and does reduce some of the pain. Cherish the good memories. Lastly, try not to let yourself wallow in grief. Life can be good going forward if you can let it and work at it a bit. After some time try to get out and about whether attending rallies, volunteering, traveling, whatever. My wife passed on May 18th 2001 and I attended a Guzzi rally two weeks later and it was a really nice diversion.

Really sorry to hear. Deepest condolences. Lost my wife in 2012 after 23 yrs, not saying I know how you feel since each experience is uniquely tough, just to offer my sincere regrets for your loss.
