V85 - wet weight?

oh, i always thought that "wet" meant a full tank BUT i am not basing this on any real factual understanding - its just what i always thought. its only another 15 pounds or so ...so, no big dif. i was sorta doing a seat of the pants comparison to my neighbor's bmw gs650 which is about 100 pounds lighter but missing, of course, about 200 cc's.

The Roamer weighs about 438 pounds "wet," but without (any?) fuel. Add 4 gallons at 6.3 pounds per gallon, and it weighs about 463 pounds "dripping wet."

The new V85 will probably weigh more because of its extra bits and (hopefully) greater fuel capacity.

My wild stab in the dark: on the "happy side" of 500 pounds.

ok, a more apt comparison would be with the gs800. the beemer website (just checked) says that wet ("fully fueled") weight it is 478 pounds. so, they are getting a bit closer to each other in terms of overall weight with the goose being a bit more portly.

The adv. bike is the fastest growing segment, or slowest shrinking, segment of the motorcycle market, Guzzi's gotta do it. IF they bring it in at under 500lbs and with the advertised 80hp it will likely be a winner IF.......... they step up and provide a stronger dealer network, improve service and customer support.

about the only way to really know the wet weight of a bike is to ride one onto a truck scale.  Otherwise, claimed wet weights tend to be about as predictive as EPA milage estimates, 'point to a general direction at best.

A 2016 stornello has a Kurb weight of 436lb. Double disc brakes and a little more body work=471lb....

From memory  the Aero Lario (same basic engine and chassis) weighed around 475 lbs dry when I weighed it last summer. Add roughly 30 lbs of fuel.. 505, the same as the Mighty Scura empty. Add emissions stuff, say 10 lbs, 515. Heavier battery, 525. Hmmmm, the transmission and rear drive have been beefed up..say another 10 lbs.
535 is my guess.

If they factory outfit it with guards (skid plate, hand guards, rear rack, and even panniers?) and such ala the Stelvio NTX vs the original Stelvio, the weight could vary significantly.  Since at this point the minor details are up in the air, I would say low to mid 500,s, specifically 540 lbs.

editorial edit... It is funny how a lot of the guys complaining about MC weight immediately start adding heavy farkles to their bikes as soon as they get them. Exception being changing exhaust.

For what I do, I reckon the Norge could have some long service leave. I just cannot stand the Ronald Mc Donald paint scheme though, it looks shithouse...
Will have to be satin black frame and Guzzi red body bits with no blacking out of the engine.
I would like the same colour concepts as the Ducati Multistrada, such that from a distance in early dawn light, you'd have to take a second look to tell them apart.
If they build one, I'll buy it.
Would be fun to get one in Mandello 2021 and ride it home to Oz....

The subject has come up before. I weighed my 850 LeMans and its 476 lbs with 5 gallons of gas. No reason the V85 should weigh more than this, it could be quite a bit less. Use the motor as a stressed member and save frame weight. Fuel injectors weigh a lot less than carbs. Replace the lead acid tractor battery with Li-Iron. Toss the steel cans for alloy canisters.

So as much as you might be tempted to think the older smallblocks are "the same" there are differences in components that lead to weight savings.

If memory serves the lightweight aluminum cast and spoke wheels were among the improvements.

Yes, IIRC with the introduction of the 1TB models changes they made included new lighter cast wheels and be lighter aluminum spoke wheels.

If you like I can check the initial product sheets next time I'm on the laptop.
