Motorcycle Stuff for Christmas?
« on: December 27, 2017, 10:01:59 PM »
So, what motorsickle stuff did you guys & gals get for Christmas?

Wifey got me a TomTom.  !!! I reckon she got tired of me writing directions with crayon on random pieces of scrap paper.   Now I can lead people on computerized wild goose chases just like Paul in Houston!

I asked Dusty what he got.  He said “I got a rock.”  I felt bad, but maybe it was a rock from Cedar Vale.

A rock is essential equipment if you have a reluctant starter.

My sister gave me LED lights for my wheels.   :embarrassed:

My trike gave me an oil leak.

Dusty got a pet Rock!?!  Nice! :thumb:
Enjoy that TomTom!  Maybe Wifey was tired of you "getting lost", and thought you'd find your way home quicker this way?  :bike-037:

A rock is handy without a crescent wrench available.   :whip2:  Put those lights on, and let your sis feel the love, even if your trike keeps pissing in protest.

I bought myself a new silencer and a new one piece, armored, insulated rain suit... I gave and received other things, but nothing else motorcycle related. Used both on Saturday, when it was 37 degrees but beautiful and clear. Nice ride!

About that rock , it gives much more reliable directions to most locations in the Bartlesville area than those new fangled hi-tech 'lectronic devices . Plus , it can tell the weather . If it's wet that means it is raining , cold to the touch indicates it is cold , nice and warm , well , it is warm . Us Indians don't need those fancy devices .

Heated grips for the FZ-07 to extend my riding comfort a few degrees.  Still need to get some wind deflectors so I can ride on sunny 50 degree days.

Got some Triumph branded casual wear.  Wish I could find more Moto Guzzi casual wear than the one T-shirt I have.  When I am in public I like to advertise that I am a motorcyclist since that helps start conversations about the only subject I am interested in.

A bunch of tools (I love the sets of box-end ratcheting wrenches), an engine stand for the TR6R, a new pocket knife, and a couple of bike-themed tee-shirts. I'm spoiled rotten...

About that rock.... no one has mentioned that it was black, shiny, and can be burned.

No moto gifts.  I did take the 1000S out on Christmas day.   :thumb:  I got the youngest home from college.  :thumb:  It was a success.  He had to do the non-revenue stand-by pass flying by himself.  First time.  With that done, flying anywhere in the world is open to him, literally.

I floated the possibilities:  1)  Summer study in China.  He can work on his Mandarin.  2)  Intern in my friends hotel in St. Moritz.  Work his Italian, French & German.  3)  surf in Bali and intern there w/ Four Season.  4)  Summer in NYC.  5)  Hang with the cousin in Japan and do a summer class there.  6)  Summer classes at his school in Reno.

Needless to say he got the deer in the headlights look.       Pretty good gift.

I told my 19 year old daughter that I would like a couple of hooks to hang my helmets on in the garage.

A week before Christmas, she came over and had me cut a piece of plywood for a "project".

Lo and behold, she made me a helmet holder using the plywood, some 1/2" steel pipe and fittings.  It is so nice!  The helmet rest is even padded!

Ho Ho Ho!

No moto presents.  I got a cable modem (so I can stop paying monthly rental fee), ankle holster for my Walther PPS .40, and one of those copper colored non-stick frying pans.

I inadvertently ended up with a brand new PlayStation 4 and then the VR headset that goes with it.  I'd bought my son and daughter-in-law a PS4, PS4 VR Skyrim bundle, and PowerA charging station for Christmas.   We'd done an early gift exchange the week before Christmas.  They opened the PS4 console first, and upon revealing it, they chuckled.  Unbeknownst to me they'd bought themselves a PS4 a couple weeks prior.  Not to worry, they were thrilled when they opened the VR headset bundle and charging stand.  I got to try it all out, too, after they hooked it up.

I ended up keeping the PS4 instead of returning it, and ordered the VR headset bundle which was delivered the day after Christmas.

I want to see videos of all the great riding in New Zealand so I know where to ride when I go there to visit my son.  Start a new thread and post up links to your YouTube channel when you get going.  You'd be surprised how many views your videos will get if they have decent production quality or include objectification of women.     Of course, when a woman is doing the videos herself is it objectification?  I'm sure just about everyone has accidently run across a farmgirl video.

Santa delivered one of these to me for Christmas, any experiences with this brand would be welcome. Obviously a Chinese made copy of the very fine American made Pit Bull stand.

Check the reviews.  Your option to get rid of it for a genuine American paddock stand.  If you find one let use know.

https://www.amazon.com/Pit-Posse-Motorcycle-Paddock-Universal/dp/B000VBOTSM/ref=sr_1_10/140-7036359-6775028?ie=UTF8&qid=1514574589&sr=8-10&keywords=pit+posse+stand

If you want one made by white people.  Expect to pay more.

Yeah, I saw these are available on Amazon, but was hoping for input from someone here that may have actual experience with one. I tend to trust my friends over strangers. That said, the steel used is 1 1/2" tubing with 3.5mm wall thickness, the weld beads are decent with good penetration and no signs of porosity, pinholes, or burn through and Grade 8 hardware was used throughout. It has enough adjustment to fit the Sport 1100 and the Multistrada, so it will stay.

Besides scotch and cigars, I got a Dewalt cordless drill.  Variable speed, reversible, and titanium bits.

Sorry I didn't have them last time you were here Dusty.  Seems like I already paid for it considering Home Depot rental fees.

BTW- Happy New Year Dusty!
