“Nice girl, but about as sharp as a sack of wet mice”
A few years ago, I bought a bootleg dvd set on eBay with every Speedy Gonzales episode. Its so gloriously politically incorrect and hilarious. In the winter months, when Ive had a crappy day at work and its already too dark for a nice ride, watching Speedy while savoring a nice IPA is the next best thing.
Haven't checked this list, but one Bugs Bunny classic had a line in it that I use at home to make the kids laugh and get a swat from my wife: Bugs fell in love with a mechanical rabbit at a Greyhound-racing track. He stopped the rabbit on it's track, gave it a smooch and got shocked and knocked out - when he came to the rabbit was gone, so he exclaims to the audience "Ain't that just like a woman? Turn your back for a minute and they're gone....."How sad that kids of today's generation will never know the pure humor in a sexist comment like that!
How sexist is it, really, when the same line could be used with the situation reversed?
Ah, ah, that's your male "privilege" speaking. You know that every single one of the "-isms" is a one-way street! I don't think that any of the old animated cartoons were meant for little kids, although we little kids tended to enjoy them. I mean, take this old advert for example. I doubt this was pointed at 8-year-olds, although given the times, you never know ....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NAExoSozc2cLannis
In my cable-cutting journey, I've run across a streaming channel called Pluto.tv. One channel is nothing but "Classic Cartoons". The other day I watched a Felix the Cat cartoon from the 20's. Sweet.
