I hoist a pint in honor........
« on: January 09, 2018, 05:35:22 PM »
........of a most special little cat I just had to have put down.  18 years ago a little bundle of fur showed up in the pouring rain.  Barely 4 months old, much too young to be out on her own, she walked into our lives and took complete control over all animals and people who lived there.  A most wonderful and playful personality resided inside her little body and a more faithful and loving pet doesn't exist.
I'm forever grateful for the time she shared with all of us.

Here's to you, Tiger.  You'll be missed.

I tip my hat,

had to put down a dear feline friend this December after 15 years of companionship.

Cats,

they sure can grow on you

Very sorry for your loss.......Cats and dogs are like family...and cats usually find their owner...like Tiger did...

It is always very sad and painful when you have to make that decision, but at 18 years....Tiger lived a very good, long life...so here's to you Tiger, from Sebastian, Felina, and Miss Pinky Diva! :thumb:

Trust me, I/we understand. I still think of him every time I roll over his grave while mowing, and sometimes when I think I hear him coming up the stairs with his spider to play "catch" with..
Most dog people don't understand. I'm a dog guy, too.. but ol' Radar was special..

Yeah, I'm a cat person too.  Have had them most my life.  Had 1 female that lived 17 years.  They're low maintenance compared to dogs and keep mice out of your house.  Right now we have 1 cat (coyotes got the other) and 3 small dogs.  They all co-habitate.  Wife prefers dogs.

1 time when I was about 12 years old I woke up because our female cat decided to have her litter between my legs at night in my bed under the covers!

CB, short for Coyote Bait, because the friend who gave her to us didn't like her much, lasted 19 years with full indoor/outdoor privileges in coyote country. We're hoisting a pint for your friend now.

That's the combustion chamber of the turbo shaft. It is supposed to be on fire. You just don't usually see it but the case and fairing fell off.

Well I really get close to my cats and they reciprocate.

1 time up in Oregon I converted a wild female cat to domestic and I went for a week long bike trip.  Came home and the wife said she hadn't seen 'momma kitty' since I left.  So I went lookin' for her and found here under the foundation of a new house under construction.  Brought her home and fed her all she could eat then.  She lived a long time with us until she got cancer on her nose after we moved to norCal with her.

I offer a toast in honor of the feline. (clink)

I've had cats in the house for pretty much all my life, and some certainly had more of an impact than others. I've gotten teary-eyed holding them as the vet performed his final service, and I sometimes get the same way thinking back on them. Each new one has his/her own character but also bears some echoes of past predecessors. My current set includes a 21-year-old, another who's 12, and a 2 1/2 year old. The wheel rolls ever on...

Sorry for your loss, and hope you can look at it the way I always do, which is to remind myself that each cat who has lived here has been treated better than he/she would be anywhere else. When a cat or kitten comes to live here, I look the cat in the eye and tell him/her "You hit Kitty Lotto".

I've only had cats for 45 years, but my wife has had cats since before she was born (61 years). Love 'em all.

Well said, one and all.

As I watch the morning news it seems so obvious (the collective) we should treat each other as well as our pets.

Wait! You have cats that catch mice? My 17 yo cat now may alert me that there is a mouse in the laundry room but its up to me to catch it.

Jim,

So sorry for your loss and I feel your pain.  I had to do the same with our oldest cat Mikey (17 yrs - 13 with us) Just before Thanksgiving.

We got him as a rescue after his owner passed and no one wanted him.

Stay warm my friend and hope to see you soon.

What can I say?   Never had a cat that didn't prefer a fresh meal over can or dry food.    Mice, ground  squirrels, birds, lizards, young rabbits, moles, all tasty to our cat.

That's really nice.  Thank you.
I'm a bit numb, and not afraid to admit it.  We've had a lot of cats and she was special.

Mikey was the 10th of the eleven cats we had over the years (still have one left).  If there ever was a cat that loved Christmas it was him.

To ease the pain Santa left me a plaque with the following inscription.

"Saving one cat will not change the world, but for that one cat...the world will change forever."

helped a bit, but three fingers of Jefferson VSB and an ice cube helped more.

Best QUOTE of this thread:

"Saving one cat will not change the world, but for that one cat...the world will change forever."

Since I have been married, we have saved two kitties...a female and a male, and they lived 15.5 years and 18.5 years, respectively... a good life.

Here are the current three...a total of more than 30+ pounds - - - and they have no problem "loading-on" the bed or wherever else it is warm and comfortable!
