Giovanni Ravelli rather unique Guzzi merged thread .
« on: January 17, 2018, 06:25:39 AM »
In memory of Moto Guzzi founder, Death Machines of London has created a beautiful aviation-inspired custom based on a 1982 Le Mans Mk II.

Check it out at these sites:

Nice stuff, but 70K pounds to buy it? I'll let you have my racer, which actually has won something for $10K...

Done in the classic reality-show biker-buildoff time restraint, I find this "unloved rescue" project to be completely boring, impractical, and unstreetable in it's current configuration.  If you wanted it for anything more than a livingroom prop, you'd have to scrap it and start over.  It's useless sculpture, a mostly cosmetic build with dashes of "because we could" mods that have no other reason to have been done.  My favorite quote from the article:  ". . . the most inconvenient thing we've ever made."  I agee on that part.

I'm always skeptical of bikes shown without any background or context.  They look like cheap photoshoppery -- either completely fake or airbrushed like a Vicki's Secret model.  I'd be tons more impressed if it was seen in the world somewhere doing what it was built to do.  The builders should fire the photographer.  And insisting that Ravelli would have approved of it might be a selling point for some, but not 70k-pounds worth.

Found this bike on the Rocket Garage website. https://rocket-garage.blogspot.com/2018/01/airforce-motoguzzi-le-mans-mk-ii.html

A lot of very nice touches on the bike and thousands of hours of work. Check out the carb throats.

Not bad use of a wrecked 1982 LeMans MkII.  Don't know how rideable it would be but very nice workmanship.

Can't imagine how long the uncovered alternator will last picking up everything slung off the front wheel, especially where the rotor is a permanent magnet

Hmmm those tyres would be scary!
And the neighbours wouldn't like the noise... No Air filters
It's a show bike. I bet it's never been started.

The founders of the marque would be turning, nay, writhing, in their graves.

I award this a seven out of ten on the Turd-o-meter! That other POS based on the on a V9 gets an 8.

Yeah, the more I look at it, the more it looks like a piece that could only be ridden for exhibitions.  Very little practical use.

here is another offering that was just posted on bikexif.  the link is for the original builder's site.

it is pretty wild looking and even if you don't like it i think you'll respect the craft.
