Opinion on sale of a 1100 Breva
« on: January 28, 2018, 08:41:57 AM »
I am thinking of reducing the heard by selling my least used bike; namely my 07 1100 Breva. It has 24k on it and is very well sorted and what I need is some ideas of what a fair price would be.

FYI - this is not a advertisement just attempting to get some starting point.

You can check out the classifieds section to gauge the market..  There's a couple of Breva 1100's posted there.

Any accessories or things that might make it particularly desirable?

I feel like in general they are a tough sale and aren't bringing more than $3-4k based on condition, location, and most of all timing (finding a buyer).

Most things are "worth" what you can get but I guess that's subjective.
Mine is " worth" about $6,000 'cos of the k's, but not for sale @ 3 times that.
My advice...?
Ask for offers.

Sounds like a nice setup. Might take a while but I'd hope you could get $4k maybe a little more. It's worth a shot.

Take no offense.  They're are some that aren't so forgiving to spelling mistakes.  The majority of us know what you mean and don't think twice about it.  There is a English major and self-proclaimed "expert" that posts on the forum.  He posts pot shots at forum members without explaining.  Welcome to the forum.

I purchased an '07 last fall with 12,000 miles that was well documented/maintained for $4500. Had stock screen as well as a tall one. Guzzi side bags, original and Heli-bars. Since then I have changed screen, lowered 9Goldwing)foot-pegs, gone back to standard bars, added a Givi top case, starter interruptus fix, Corbin saddle and Guzzi Tec Y-pipe. At this time would I take $4500 for her...NO. I'm going to ride it as long as I can :)

I would not rush the sale. The Breva 1100 prices hit rock bottom at the moment. Potential buyers will realize soon that the Breva 1100 is a very good motorcycle for touring, especially when somebody is looking for a reasonably prized Guzzi which is capable of carrying two persons on long distances. A V7 or  V9 is simply too small for that, a 1400 is not everybody's cup of tea and Stelvio's  are more expensive.

I bought my Breva 1100 (ABS) with 40.000 km 2 years ago for 4000 €, completely original without  any improvements or extras. I had to invest. Your bike has some nice add ons, good components. There is for sure a buyer out there who appreciates this, asking for 5000 $ is a  not too high entry. ABS yes or no makes a difference, at least here in Germany.
OT, but interesting to know:  Are you satisfied with the Martis cartridges ?

I bought my 06 Breva with 8500 miles on her for $3K from a dealership here in OKC back in August of 2016.  I wouldn't sell it today for $4k that is how much I love this bike.  Mine's stock with stock windshield and Guzzi hard bags.

It's not the fastest, sexiest, most comfortable, etc., but it does do all of things quite well.  Kind of a jack of all trades type bike.  Touring when I want to tour, and sporty when I want to canyon carve (not that there's much of that here in Oklahoma).  I've had cruisers and other sport touring bikes and none of them are on the same level as the Breva.

Sell at your own risk but I think in the DFW, you probably wouldn't have any issue getting $4K out of it from the right buyer.  Especially now that we are going to be coming into what most consider to be prime riding season in March-June.

The Breva 1100 and 1200 are the "Rodney Dangerfields" of Guzzi's right now. I don't think you want to wait until the price goes up. If it were me, I'd sell it now and invest that money. JMHO

Hope all my spelling is correct!?!

KevM.  You missed the thread where the "Expert" slammed me on my post.  I asked him to post a correction, asked him for his help on my post.  Nada, he preferred to do a hit & run like a troll.  He hasn't posted for a while.  So I think about his credibility.  It would seem more like a personal attack to me and someone that can't take the heat for what he posts.
