Good discussion on the link above...There are other who have a slight different opinion on how raising the port floor increases engine response and overall power...Some say it increases air flow velocity and the air forms a cone around the opened valve increasing air flow...But they are all on the same page...
What I do know from actual experience on my land speed racing Triumph with a head design similar to Guzzi....Raised intake port floor without making the ports larger than stock, moderate lift and duration camshafts and running only 10.5 compression flatter top pistons with more quench that the competition's higher dome no quench pistons that limit combustion flame travel..I use a single spark plug...I learned this from Chevy V8 tuners....
On a Guzzi street engine I believe the dual plugs can be an advantage...mostly because the faster flame travel suppress detonation and you may be able to run lower octane fuel...
