 Why does ever ad for a non-running motorbike claim "it has good (or great) compression ? Hve they done a leak down test?  Just because it goes chuff chuff when kicked thru means nothing , hell , I've seen old Brit bikes with a holed piston make the chuff chuff sound

The difference between "great compression" and "no compression" on a Simplex isn't detectable by human senses .... 

Can't have much anyway, with that cantilevered crankshaft supported only on one side like a Cox .049 model plane engine.

So file that with "just needs battery"  "just needs carbs cleaned"  "Just needs new plugs"  "Just needs a tuneup" "Just needs ... Just needs ...."

Nobody's getting $5K for a non-runner, as he'll soon find.

My other favorite is all it needs is XYZ part that can be bought off ebay for $3 and it will run like new. It always amazes me why the seller just didn't spend $3 get it running and ask more money. I guess folks are just too darned busy.
