Gigi Finds A New Home
A Brigitte The Vespa Story
There once was a beautiful bronze Vespa GTS 300ie named Brigitte. Her friends and family called her Gigi as they zipped along the back roads of Sonoma County California. Life was good!
Then one day, her family told her they were going to sell their home in the wonderful land of wine and weirdos, and become travellers. Gigi was sad to leave her friends and earthquake twisted lanes, but the prospect of new adventures soon lifted her spirits.
Her family got an RV with a nice trailer for her and her little sister Fifi (an LX 150ie) to ride in, and they got to exploring. She and Fifi enjoyed all the new sights and smells as they bounced from state to state, but it came time to take a rest, so her family decided to settle for a while just outside of a place called Tucson, in Arizona.
Gigi and Fifi busied themselves by exploring the roads around their new home, sampling the local fare, which was
much less expensive in Arizona, and making grocery runs. They also discovered how much fun it was to play tag with the little cottontail bunnies that seemed to be everywhere in the desert. Life was good!
But after a time, her family decided her little sister Fifi should to go to a new home. Gigi was so sad. Who was she going to play with? Who was going to race her down those dusty little lanes chasing cottontail? Who was she going to go gas sipping with?
When the day came for Fifi to go, they cried and rattled their engines. Fifi's new family arrived with a soft cloth and wiped her blinkers, and dabbed her headlight. They seemed very happy to be bringing Fifi home with them so maybe this wasn't such a bad thing. They beeped at each other one last time, then Fifi revved her little engine and disappeared in a cloud of dust.
Gigi felt so alone without her sister but she didn't let it get her down. She still chased cottontail and went on grocery runs but Vespas weren't meant to play alone. When her family brought home an SUV, she was so excited! A new friend was just what she needed to feel better, but the SUV wasn't interested and more often than not, Gigi found herself alone.
One day a man and woman came to visit and it didn't take long for them to come over and introduce themselves to Bridgette. They told her how beautiful she was, complimented her lovely voice, and squealed with glee as she zipped up and down the lanes. She had forgotten how good it felt to be happy!
The man and woman asked Gigi if she would like to come live with them. They explained that they had a nice comfortable garage with another Vespa just like her, two little Metropolitan twins, along with a Honda and Moto Guzzi motorcycle to play with. Gigi was so happy she darted down the lane and caught a 3 inch bolt with her rear tire!
The man and woman rushed over to see what had happened. Gigi sat on her center-stand crying, looking at her broken tire. Who was going to want her now? But the man and woman talked to her family, came to an agreement and rolled her to their Honda Odyssey. Brigitte was to come home with them anyway!
After much work, Gigi was settled in the van. The van's name was Tardis, and he was very kind and told her not to worry, he would get Gigi to her new home safely. Gigi was starting to get excited to meet her new moto-family.
To make a long story longer, Gigi made it home and the family started the search for a new PAIR of tires for her to romp on. She was unable to leave Tardis so all the motos came out of the garage to greet her. The twins Mori and Miri were so excited they almost jumped in with her! Then Anni and Velvet, the shiny new motorcycles, came to welcome her to the family. Gigi was mightily impressed with Anni's chrome and hoped she would be allowed to add more chrome too. Last to visit was Greywind, the other Vespa GTS 300is. He was a year older than her and so handsome Gigi blushed when he winked his blinker in greeting.
Gigi couldn't wait to come out and play, but the ever-watchful Tardis asked her to cool her tailpipe and wait for her tires first. Gigi sighed a happy sigh and settled into her tie-downs to take a nap, as it had been a long eventful day. Brigitte knew she had found her forever home. Life was good!
