2014 Ram truck with 90,000 miles. Driving up north in Wisconsin from down in Tennessee and it starts to miss. Mechanic finds miss in number three cylinder, and then compression test shows about 20 in that cylinder. Dang it!!!!!!! Now its at a Ram dealership getting ready to be torn into next week. My next truck will probably be a Nissan or Toyota. No more Fords, Chevys, or Rams for this guy!
Which engine are your running??5.75.7 MDS6.46.7 Cummins
That's a bummer that it dropped a cylinder. I'll be curious to hear a post-mortem from you, once it's fixed.Wonder if the piston rings went bad, or if the cylinder head gasket did.Is your 5.7 Hemi the "MDS" Multi-Displacement version, or the normal 5.7 Hemi?If MDS, I wonder if it was a contributor. Hmmm.
The Nissan Frontier not sure what's wrong.
Earlier 5.7 Hemi had a habit of breaking valve springs ......Supposedly it was fixed well before 2014.....Japanese brand name trucks also can have problems..
Is the hemi used in PU's the same engine used in Chargers ? Our local PD is moving away from Chargers and going back to Chevrolets because of maintenance costs . Dusty
Yeah I know Japanese brands have problems also. I was just blowing off steam when I said no more Chevy's, Fords, or Rams for me. Il get it fixed and keep running her down the road hopefully for another 150,000 miles or so.......
You better get the old truck going for a back-up. You getting back in time for the get-together?
Is a hemi running on 7 cylinders a "semi" hemi ? Dusty
You do NOT want to know the words I am using for it right now!!
I vote valve spring.
