What's Pissing You Off Today? Vent And Let It Go!
« on: April 04, 2018, 01:03:25 PM »
This is a safe place to improve your mental health.  Purge what bothers you, and be free of it. :thumb:

Last month at 52, this lovely, health-conscious gentleman was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer of the lung/brain (non-smoker).  He is the well-loved athletic director at our children's school, known for a fantastic sense of humour and warm soul.  As a coworker, his support was invaluable to myself and countless others over the years.

Four years ago next month my father passed two weeks after his 63rd b-day, a mere nine weeks after being diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.

That's what is pissing me off today.  :thewife:

Guzzi Gal, I'm sorry for your loss.

They were both far too young.

Me? Brain cancer in toddlers. That's what got me pissed off lately. Want to feel helpless? Deal with that.

When compared to that... everything else, right now, is small potatoes for me.

I'M IN A BIT TOO MUCH PAIN TODAY TO BE REALLY PISSED. JUST DON'T HAVE THE ENERGY TO WORK UP TO IT.

I usually avoid this kind of things not wanting to bum people out
But this might be kind of cathartic.

I had thought that some things were pissing me off today, and I've been reacting as if they were.

But suddenly, I haven't got anything pissing me off anymore today; it all looks pretty good from here.

Dogs are my life. My family, my love.
Too many of mine have passed from cancer.
I make my own food for them, regular vetting, care for them as you would/should for children.
Yet cancer still comes for them. It is truly evil, the tool of the devil.
I can say this because it's never the mass murderers, serial killers, child molesters.
No, it's only the kind, and good that get cancer.
Sorry to rant on

So very sorry to hear this. You must be very strong to go on. Not sure if I could. Like many situations, we cannot say for sure how we would handle it, if we never had to go through it.

Perhaps on reading about the real tragedies posted by Guzzi Gal and others I need to take a chill pill and get a  better perspective. There's a learning in that.

That sucks big time.

Life if full of shit sandwiches.  Some folks get to eat a lot more of them than others, I don't feel like anybody knows why.

I'm mad about quite a bit, as I think most of us are if we let ourselves think about what where we are.

Yet, there is a whole lot of Wonder and Love to experience on this go around, it's always a good plan to try and stick you're landing in that part of the mind.

Think of this thread as a cathartic release.  Once done, we can try to do as bad Chad and JJ suggest and practice happiness.

I won't say I'm p'd off about it, but I am having to deal with a small problem (that resulted from a much bigger one now in the past, mentioned here at that time).

Imagine, if you will, the mental and social hurdle faced when asking a woman out - and the last time you did this was 41 years ago!

In today's world, that would be my worst nightmare.

I believe I'd skip it and spend the time in the shop getting all the old projects going!!

What keeps my blood pressure up is our group of 20's and 30's who are too lazy to work.

I have volunteered at our local food bank and homeless shelter.  I continuously saw these young people who were able-bodied, somewhat intelligent, certainly capable of holding a decent job.  Instead, they're lounging all day long, walking the streets, hanging out in the library, waiting for the next free meal.

The Entitlement Generation.  A horrible waste of a life!
Essential to the pursuit of happiness is knowing when you've caught it.
Life's what happens while you're making other plans.
I always knew I'd get old.  How fast it happened was a bit of a surprise, though.

The drought.
GliderJohn

The opposite for me

It feels like I've been rained on over here everyday for the past 6 months, so much so that I baulk at going into our conservatory only to hear the pitter patter of rain on the roof

There have been random odd days when it hasn't rained - today being a prime example. The problem with today is that I'm IN THE OFFICE AND WHERE I AM IT DOESN'T HAVE ANY OUTSIDE WINDOWS -GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

And the next couple of days when I could go for a ride ...... well I have other commitments already and its forecast to rain again.

Still, all that pales into insignificance in the real world described by others above - stay strong

Insurance companies and incompetent doctor's office admin...

I was scheduled for spinal surgery to correct the significant spinal stenosis on 4/4 at 0730 and the night before I received a call from the admin telling me that the insurance folks had not acknowledged the pre-authorization to perform the procedure...!  Are you f'n kidding me...?  The night prior...?  WTF...?  We will need to reschedule after we hear back from the insurance gods.

I talked with both the insurance company and the Dr's admin several times yesterday to no avail finally asking that the insurance folks call the doc's office, they did.   One insurance Rep was adamant that there was no need for the pre-auth, the office was adamant that the people they talked with said it was.  I called back to the insurance folks, same deal...  call the office back again. This went back and forth four (4) times...  I have the names of the Reps I talked with each time...!

The fact that, in the end the truth is that Part of the procedure (Laminotomy) does require pre-auth, not all of the elements.  The worse part of this ridiculous story is that the admin was asking the wrong questions, not getting the entire story and list of required elements to the procedure.

This is maddening, I now have to wait for up to 72 hours while the insurance folks review the situation, inform the doc and Then they can schedule the new date.

Do you know what it is like to mentally prepare for such a surgery...?  What a day...!  Geezus...!

Thanks for the place to vent, that is all.

Best
Rob

Well on the scale of things it’s pretty minor but I’m having a break in the SW corner of Oz in a little area called the Margaret River region. It’s lovely and stuffed choc-a-block with great vineyards and eateries and has some of the most beautiful coastline in Oz.

Anyway, we were down at a little place called Hamelin Bay, a lovely little beach famous for its stingrays and sharks, (And the occasional whale beaching.). As we were walking up the sand a pod of dolphins swam in to only about four metres off the beach and swam along beside us for a ways. When we got up to where a bloke was fishing not only did he not pull is line out to let them pass unhindered but he threw stones at them to try and frighten them off. Sorry, I don’t care if he was a local who’s used to dolphins being around every day. He’s still an asshole!

What pisses me off today is morons passing me in no passing zones, even with uphill and curve thrown in. Every time it happens I mentally picture a car or poor slob on a bike coming over the hill into a head on, and I really want to thrash the idiot.

October 2016 I was diagnosed with advanced rheumatoid arthritis. That sucks. What sucks the most is being locked in a body that doesn't function properly. I look outside on a beautiful day and instead of grabbing skis or snowshoes and camera gear I get to hobble around the yard with a cane for 60 minutes before I have to go nap to recuperate from all that exercise.
I guess that is my circle of concern.

My circle of influence is to focus on appreciating being able to hobble around the yard. We have seven Bernese Mountain Dogs who still think I'm cool to hang-out with even though we don't go for big walks anymore. And puppies.... we have a litter of nine little poop machines who believe snow and sunshine really are gifts of the Gods. Getting them back inside when they start getting cold is a challenge. They are going to their forever homes next week. Don't let my wife know I'll miss them. Have to keep-up the grumpy gramps image.
Bah! they stink, they are noisy and they'll break your heart far too soon. (effective presentation?)

... and thank you for this thread. Sharing frustration isn't something many of us allow ourselves to do for fear of being perceived as whining. A safe harbour is a valued place.
One may write one's destiny but the unknown delivers it.
