OK , new phone is up and running , same number . Lost all of my contacts , you know the drill .

Usually one can successfully dry them out. I have heard that placing it in rice will help the drying process. With the wind and low humidity here today could probably put it out on the deck and it would work by this evening.
A couple of years ago I left my DSLR out on my deck and we got over an inch of rain that night. When I removed the lens water ran out but it dried out and has worked fine ever since.

Put the old one in rice , sprayed electrical cleaner on it , it kinda started working for a day , then just shut down . Spoke with a friend who works on cell phones , he just laughed .

I usually try shaking it as dry as possible, soaking it for a short bit in iso alcohol to help displace water, then in warm/dry rice. Remove battery first if possible. I have a bunch of large (~1lb) silica gel packs that I will heat up to 250deg for 24 hours and keep in an air-tight container afterward. I will place the phone in a ziplock with the silica gel. Rice works, but the silica gel absorbs more water.

That is your best/only chance of making it work. Chances go down with how long it was in water.

Not to be snide (I know these are getting expensive for you), but I keep my replacement one in a zip lock baggie since the one it replaced got squashed. Fun fact -- the touch screen works through the baggie.

27 bucks for a Mil spec flip phone , the dang thing looks kinda tacticool

I thought that was what the cloud was for -to keep a back up of your contacts. They might actually still be in the cloud, you might just have to find out how to synch in the new phone & get them back, painlessly. Someone else may well know more.

No, now -- you think I was always this way, but I was a regular guy with a dog and a girl before I got my flip phone. I even lived in a house and owned a tie. Since the flip phone I've been in and out of treatment and rehab constantly. I've retired two shrinks. For a while they wouldn't even let use a MIG welder in OT; it was just that bad. Then my girl ran off with the dog, took the house, and left the tie hanging from a tree with a Windsor knotted into it. See how flip phones are bad?
