New Moto Guzzi Door Mats Available Now
We did a rough calculation of what all the extraneous munt associated with the rubber mounting of the motor today.Dunno how to organise a poll but lets have a guessing comp! How much does all that shite actually weigh? :DPete
It must be because air weighs more than grease...!
I'd say it's a fair bit - but nothing compared to the weight of the final drive / swingarm compared to a CARC!
Im actually going to say something awful about that too but baby steps eh.... :DPete
easily 20kgs
Just as a point of reference the Harley Sportster gained 50# (mostly in the frame) when they rubbermounted it.
When they were changing my tires, I picked up the wheels. With fresh tires mounted, I think the rear wheel and tire weigh about 50 lbs by themselves and the front at least 30. There is also a very stout looking cross brace on the rear swing arm.I personally like the weight especially on the highway as it keeps the bike steady down the road. As others have noted, pushing it around is a little bit of a challenge. Also, a Road King weighs 750 lb compared to the Cali Custom's 700. And, by putting on Ago pipes, I dumped about 20 lbs so Blu is supermodel svelte...
According to Harley-Davidson, the curb weight on a 2018 Road King is 836 lbThe 2016 year model weighs in at 814 lbs.A 2018 Heritage Classic is 723A 2016 Heritage Classic is 755We currently own a Heritage and have owned three Road Kings. In my mind, this Cali 1400 is easier for me to push around the garage that either of our Heritage or Road Kings. Not enough miles on it yet, but I'm leaning toward it also being a bit more maneuverable and easier to handle than that Heritage, and certainly easier than a Road King.Right now, I'm trying to figure out them goofy handlebars.
I'll bite - if 50kg can be trimmed from the Platic Maggot (the 200kg CX500), even if that included swapping out the muffler & wheels as well, then there's a decent chance of 50kg of unnecessary stuff on the B-Double.
I wasn't going to wade into this cause it's a potential rabbit hole, but yeah we gotta compare apples-with-apples.Wet weights (as best as I can tell according to various sources) are :Audace (a paltry) 659# Cali 1400 Custom 701#Eldo 1400 738#Cali 1400 T 753#
That said, if you haven't already, you GOTTA ride the 2018 Heritage. It feels MUCH smaller and lighter than the previous model did and also feels smaller/lighter than any Cali 1400 variant I've ridden.Purchased a 2018 Heritage 114 a few weeks ago, what a sweet ride, so much better than the old Heritage and a little better than the RK in my opinion due to weight and size. The suspension, the handling, the brakes all well done, also very responsive when applying power and i haven't scraped floor boards yet, I'm sure that will happen on some mountain roads. I'm a very happy with it and the olive and black colors work really well with the blackout look.ciao
