A little pricey, but pretty good. Of course, there is no perfect jacket. I like the ability to put the rain liner on the outside. (It will also go inside like "normal" rain liners) I've been in a frog strangler with it and stayed dry.

Absolute heresy I know

Bought one of these secondhand off eBay
Tough Nylon textile with 'flyscreen' inserts for cooling
Goretex style rainjacket that can be worn inside or outside of the jacket.
Normal CE protectors on elbows, shoulders and spine.
Works very well in Adelaide's 40+c summers, though the increased airflow means that you get very dehydrated very quickly.

The local BMW dealer has the latest version (v4?) on sale for approx. $AUD500.

Very comfortable jacket.

I prefer my Joe Rocket Phoenix 1 over my newer Phoenix 4. 

Not there's much difference but I like lighter ....

My advice is not to get a black one. I've got a nice Vanson mesh jacket that heats up really nicely in the sun.

If you want the absoloute lighest stuff look at the Bohn stuff. I have one of their shirt/light jackets and it has armor in the elbows and back, and sholders. I have had a small crash in this brand and surprising performance from such a light weight garment.

Its been durable and is very light.(cheap..uh..others might have a different definition of cheap!)

I�d allowed that they are all about the same with a minimal amount of protection. Mine is a FIRST GEAR and I�ve had it for 10 years with no issues and I wear it religiously. Back in the day I think I paid around 100.00 bucks give it take 10.00

I have a similar jacket that flows a ton of air on high heat days... be careful of dehydration ... it sneaks up on you.  I passed out last summer due to dehydration and burned myself badly on exhaust.

I'm a Rev'it fanboy. It seems that they have a good balance of build quality and price. I bought a cheap-o Fieldsheer mesh and returned it - really flimsy. Seems that my Revit has decent flow, yet still retains structure to hold armor in place. Of course, this is the wrong time of year to find them on sale. As others noted, the good folks at motorcyclegear.com are helpful and provide good service.

Be glad you don't need a Tall size.  Very few choices in Tall and when a manufacturer does offer one, it's usually only in black.  Couple this with trying to find one without large brand name logo's plastered all over it (I'm looking at you, Rev it, AlpineStars, Dainese, and more) and you're screwed.

I got a nicely made Scorpion mesh jacket on sale at MotorcycleGear.com and upgraded the armor to D30 CE-2. It’s a good bit heavier, but the armor is substantially more robust. D30 does a good job with armor. It’s only as large as it needs to be, it is well vented, and the material is comfortably adaptive to one’s shape. The result is better protection and comfort with less bulk...

+1. I put +30k miles on my JR Phoenix 1. It's still in the closet, with a little rash from my kid ditching it. No rotting threads, no holes, no problem.

My husband wears the Joe Rocket and I use a Scorpion.  I would suggest one of the better 'open-weave' back protectors to help with airflow, the standard CE-2s just trap the heat.

Slatin Moto Gear has a nice selection, I bought one after a Cycle World review. Red or blue or hi-viz, with armor. Fits comfortably.

So many years, so many jackets, lots of good ones but never ever one that kept me safe and still cool in Kentucky humidity and Summer heat.  Until this one.  Basically see through with netting and armor.  Even kept me protected in wreck. Spidi Airtech jacket.

I like my Scorpion Eddy. It is red and black but the black is the reflective mesh stuff that doesn't heat up any worse than a light, light grey jacket I have. Also can attest to the armor as I had a deer induced tumbling get off at 80+ mph and it protected me very well.

motorcyclegear.com may still have them for about $100. I think they have an orange and white for you.

I favor Dianese or Alpinestars with the pants that you can zip together.  It's an ATGATT thing of course I'm working on my Dianese "taper" so that I can actually fit a new jacket & pants

With those you can "go-light" with t shirt and shorts

or "Go Commando"------- if you're brave enough.
