Took my better half to The Inn at Mountain Quest (downstate WV)

 Non Guzzi content, but may be of interest to those of you who like to do a 2up ride to a B&B type place:  While we're waiting for our Breva seat to be completed,  we hopped on the Capo 1200 for this 500 mile overnighter.

Headed down into southern West Virginia for an overnighter. As is my way, I opened Google maps, typed in "lodging" and searched through the little info bulbs that popped up. I stumbled across the Inn at Mountain Quest, near Marlington, WV.

Nestled among the beautiful towering mountains of Pocahontas County, WV, near Snowshoe Mountain Ski Resort, the Inn At Mountain Quest is a tranquil retreat from the ordinary. The family-owned and operated bed and breakfast Inn centers around a quaint 1905 farmhouse. A separate modern wing offers 12 uniquely themed guest rooms with common areas such as a recreation center, jacuzzi, sauna, and an extensive private library filled with unusual items collected through years of travel.

The detail of the old house was pretty cool. My better half gave me credit for the good pick.
It turned out to be a reasonably priced place with awesome rooms that were very, very clean.
The Inn (Institution of learning actually) is owned by an older couple that met while in the Navy. They're a couple of smart cookies! The spiral staircase to the second floor of the library host a dozen or more "his and hers" Certificates of various degrees. Really cool to talk to.
Warning! No cell service around...this could have something to do with being very near the radio telescopes at Green Bank? They do, however, have a DVD library, as well as a Book (what's that?) library.

There are unlimited miles of twisties and mountainous routes to enjoy of course.....IT'S West Virginia!!!
We'll go back for sure. Oh...restaruants are about 20 minutes away, but a great breakfast is included. We'll probably include a place to eat dinner before we get there next visit.

That is one find riding area.  We have stayed in the Durbin/Frank area several times. ridden US 219 south to Lewisburg, gone a bit west on US 60, then headed north again on (can't remember the road) but made for a nice day ride.

I'm bettin' the road is WV 9 and WV 10 back to 39, then east to Marlinton.   Certainly qualifies as a nice day ride!

As many of our trips start,  we ran rt18 from Burgettstown to Washington, PA.  I convinced that that road is the longest line between the two points.  Anywho...we started the trip by catching 79 out of Washington, PA.   I hate using the interstate too much,  but we made up some time in case we had issues down near Fairmont.  Oddly enough, we saw our share of trucks rolled onto their sides this trip.  Anyway, 310 is where I feel the ride really started.  There we caught 310 to Grafton, and then down 250 to Phillippi where we went through the always impressive 2 lane covered bridge.  We made our way down 250 past Belington and through Junior.   I'm thinking rt250 and rt92 were one in the same in some areas?  We proceeded down 250 through Monongahela National Forest to the towns Bob mentioned.  Passing Durbin and Frank, we turned right in Bartow to 92.  We stayed on 92 basically until its intersection with 84.  After that it was look for a gravel road with a large rock with Mountain Quest Inn on it!
   
Coming home was a little more fun anyway.   92 to 39 in Marlinton (where the food is!)... and follow that all the way to Summersville.  Now I WAS going to cross the 19 in Summersville and proceed west till we reached 16,  but as it happened,  the clouds started to open up a bit on us.  Dang.  I made an executive decision to go north on 19 for a bit. If it's going to rain on me, I'd rather be moving a bit.  We rode 19 until Burnsville...by this time the skies cleared a bit, so twisties it was!  It's a bit of a blur,  but we were on 5 all the way to 119 (I think...sheez).   Going north on 119,  I turned left on 47 in Linn.  Just past Troy,  we caught a right on 18n.  We rode 18n until we turned right on 180.   We could have stayed on 18 and gone into Sistersville (which was appealing because of the ferry ride to 7 - although my wife doesn't see the adventure in the ferry ride).  Our rears commenced to ach'n, so 180 it was to New Martinsville.  Cross the river to 7 there and rode that rt up to 22 and Weirton!

Anyway...that's how I remember it

Thanks bob!  The only issue we had near on 18 was finding ourselves behind a dozen "gas" trucks!

All my favorite roads in one post!  I don't let a year go by without riding that route.

US250 and WV92 run together from Belington through Elkins and Huttonsville and Durbin to Bartow ....

Plan a trip to take the misses to the Dingess Tunnel.

Have not been to the Dingness Tunnel, but we have been to the NADA Tunnel.

Richy, nice ride and trip report on B11 #2!  When I've made rides from just outside Charleston WV north on Highway 16 with a route change into Sistersville, I enjoy the ferry simply because it offers a refreshing break and a pleasant trip across the Ohio River.  I pick up SR 800 north on the Ohio side at Fly, Ohio, which is a nice alternative to droning north on I 77.  Recall the ferry ride being a reasonable $2 bucks.
