The overtime 1-1 match with Columbia was tense and exciting, even more so with the nail-biter penalty-kick shootout.  In the end, the Blighty Boys prevailed - well deserved!  Good show!

So they should be the way their team played/cheated. There was only one team prepared to play football for ninety minute's so Colombia got all they deserved in the penalty shootout. If a England team played like that they would never be forgiven. Fair play on all that old chap.

Disappointing performance from the referee. Should have red carded the head butt and started carding the continuous “in the face” drama with the referee. Before the game, I had been impressed with the Colombian performances up to this point. England deserved the win, although penalties are not the best way to qualify.

This is the first World Cup for decades when the St George’s flag hasn’t been visible everywhere. It’s the first for decades when we’ve gone into it without unrealistic expectations whipped up by the tabloids.
But the flag’s now appearing and we’re daring to dream.

Sweden 0 - 2 England.
Onwards and upwards.
Expectations prior to the World Cup here was that England would be lucky to get get to the quarters.
Gareth Southgate had done something special with his team and displayed humility and maturity along the way.
So glad that the whining, diving, cheating South Americans have all been given an early flight home.
The World Cup should be an outstanding advert for the game of football, something luckily the Europeans have taken to heart.

- or Belgium, who already beat England a few days ago!

Belgium did beat England but both teams fielded second choice players because they had both already qualified for the next round.
England got a easier path to the final as a result.
Both Belgium and France have in theory better players but only one can reach the final. My monies on France to be champions but will cheer England all the way.

Pickford and Courtois are both absolutely stellar goalkeepers for England and Belgium, respectively.  They have contributed hugely to the success of their teams.  It would be very interesting to see England vs Belgium with all first line starters.
