Lightweight Boots?

I have a pair of SIDI boots that are waterproof and provide good protection all around.

The problem I've found with them - for me - is they tend to be a little tricky to use with the foot controls (and my feet are NOT large by any means) as well as being a paint to take on and off.

I got lazy the past week or so and went on a couple rides with my street shoes. Could not believe how much better I felt I could ride in terms of being able to more smoothly operate the foot controls.

I WANT the ankle protection, but would like to find a pair of summer boots that are not only lighter but easier to take on and off while still giving good foot and ankle protection. And yes - cooler too!

There were a couple other threads here that talked about lightweight gear but it seems most of the focus is on the JACKETS. I already have a nice summer mesh jacket so I'm good there.

But BOOTS - I did see a reference to Magnum police boots but can't find a dealer locally and I prefer to buy shoes from a brick and mortar place.

Any other suggestions?

I had 2 pairs of the police air mesh type boot. bought the first from a local police supply store and they were great at about $165 ten years ago. wore them out and got supposedly the same ones on the internet for $110 and they were junk. I switched to over the ankle hiking boots and put a rain cover on when needed. the mesh type are great for the southern heat. safety might be a bit compromised but I don't sweat to death all the time either.

Military grade boots are perfect boots for ridding motorcycles. The dessert type are great for summer hot weather use and in the south I rise 3 seasonal just changing sock types. Cold weather military boots are also readily available. Both types  can be bought for the price of, so called, "motorcycle boots"

I've been happy with the Alpinestars Ridge boots I've been using. They're closed with patches of Velcro, they are waterproof, and they have a slightly wider last than Sidis. Easy on and off, lightweight, and comfortable...

Have you adjusted the shift lever up a notch?  That should help.  IMO good boots are a must to save a lot of issues down the road.  Foot problems can make quality of life sick.

This only works if you use knee high woolen socks for extra protection.
Oh and polyester.... shorts must be shiny [emoji16]

For what it's worth to our American cousins the British army are now issued with brown coloured boots rather than black. Apparently brown works better in hot climates.

The trials style boots are easy on and off. Two buckles and a Velcro. They aren�t as klunky as motocross boots, but I wouldn�t want to hike in them. VERY waterproof (I�ve waded in a creek) they have a good beat AND you can dance to them..........I�ll give em an 8 Dick Clark

I have been wearing Icon Overlord boots for the last 4 months, on some very hot days (34+ celcius) and they are awesome, very comfortable, easy to get on and off, comfortable for extended walking and stylish as well.  Would buy another pair in a heartbeat if needed.

I don't notice them to be cool on hot days or warm on cold rides, but they are very easy to get on, have padding on the ankle and are as comfortable to walk around in as high top shoes.

I've been using Dainese Vera Cruz  for the last two summers and like them.  Protection is limited due to them being a short boot / tall shoe.  I picked them up on sale years ago.

The downside is the sole is thin and I've just about worn through the ball of the foot.  I like to tripod the Griso & V11 at lights when commuting.
