Motorcycle Earbuds (Music for riding)

Disclaimer - for those of you who do NOT like to ride with music or earbuds, please disregard this message.  No need for any lessons about safety or distractions or other concerns.

For others who like to ride with a quality music system or easy access to Bluetooth enabled devices (Phone or GPS), there is an excellent product I found recently called Slimbuds.  Can work for cycling or motorcycling or other sports and of course volume is fully flexible so you don't drown out surrounding noise.

These are excellent, almost audiophile quality music earphones made of soft rubber which fit FLUSH with your ears and also act as earplugs to eliminate wind noise, so they are super comfortable inside the helmet and don't push on your ears like other earbuds  It comes with a small device that sits on your chin which you forget about after just a minute or so that controls the microphone or power and allows for excellent quality phone calls as well.   Battery life is about 6 hours.

I've tried a few things but it's too loud for me to enjoy. I'd like to find something that works for me. I'm pretty picky about my tunes.

I was an early backer of Slimbuds.  They hit the target really well.

I use a helmet mounted Sena BT unit, but have no option with my other helmets. This looks like a clever alternate. I don’t listen to music much, but the navigation directions and phone calls are good to hear...

I have used good ear buds and mp3 for years for the music and second as ear plugs. A good set comes with 3 size rubber plugs and when the correct size is selected they are very effective and comfortable.

I just ordered a set. I also just backed the Domio Pro, so either way, I hope to get a good working system. I've tried 3 varieties of systems before, including the Sena, plus my own DIY version. I could never get helmet speakers to work really well. I must have a weird head, because I could never get the right speaker in the 'right' spot. Plus, my ears would start to ache after a while. Futzing with the pads never seemed to help. I am hopeful.

I’m subscribed to his Chanel. I’ll look through it to see his review, thanks! I currently have the cheap sena in my helmet but it’s not very crisp. Looking to see if there are any good ear buds or upgrade to the better sena models

We're using Sena 10 communicators (older) and Fit Ear custom plugs.  Although very reliable and made of good quality, we find ourselves repeating alot HUH? WHAT? 
Although the music option sounds interesting,  we only use for rider passenger communication and receiving phone calls (my job requires being "on call").
I'll be looking into this!

Once the wind noise increases, its tough to hear music without killing my ears. I dislike earbuds, but do enjoy music.

So, it looks like I'm still looking different speakers, which are permanently installed in the helmet.

New Sena 10S user here.  I recently adjusted the speaker placement and can hear music clearly up to 80mph with earplugs in and the stock screen up or down.  Voice intercom is clear at all speeds.  The stock speakers get a bad rap but placement is the most critical aspect.

I listen to music from my GPS which pauses the music to give me the next turn. 

Keep in mind that even though they aren't typically enforced for motorcyclists that there are laws about earphones/earbuds while driving.  Just don't flaunt it or add insult to injury if you are pulled over for another traffic infraction.

I bought last year at the cycle show in Chicago LX-B@ motofON great price and it works an all my bikes it is in my helmet. Very pleased with it.

I use the Skullcandy earbuds available at walmart for about $10.00, comes with three sizes to find your fit. Works great with a simple mp3 player also available at walmart for $15.00. I think its crazy to spend the amount of coin people are spending because only the best will do. $35.00 and I'm rocking. My two cents. BK

Had an opportunity to test the Slimbuds today. Simply fantastic! Tested up to 80mph. Sounded great. They're very comfortable, and I didn't even notice the dangly bit. With sound off, they work just as well as regular ear plugs.

I fueled up and I always leave my modular helmet on. So with the chin guard up, I expect I looked like a twonker. The cashier had an odd grin when I paid.

I've looked at wireless earbuds but they all only have 4 to 6 hours of battery life plus its another charger and cord I'd have to remember. I also no doubt lose or brake them in short order.

I have settled on wired ear buds. Cheap, well fitting, good sound, no extra cords or chargers  plug them in and hit play on my phone. Also if they break every gas station has earbuds so its easy to pick up a replacment if needed.

Hey John...they work really well for noise, also very soft rubber so the fit is very comfortable.

No wind noise, just nice comfortable buds...and while it’s true you’ll get about 6 hours of life, that’s also perfect for a day ride.

The only thing I would like is a volume control but that may be in the next version.

Out riding on a beautiful day with my baby....earbuds working just fine.   Stopped at the Classic Rock Cafe for breakfast in Navasota and headed for another 100 miles of sunny twisty roads!

I've been using the Jaybird Tarah. Wireless, good battery life, and control all aspects of my iPhone. They will time out and shutoff  after 15 minutes of new input or out of range, and when first connected will announce how much battery life left. Great ft with 3 interchangeable soft tips.

It's the same charging cord most phones use and tons of other stuff.  If you travel with anything at all that needs charging it's easy-the same cord and charger work for everything.
The Slimbuds sound WAY better than run of the mill buds if that matters to anyone.  The chin mic, which I don't ever use, disappeared after 5 minutes.
Lots of ways to skin the cat.  These hide inside the ear and cause zero pressure with the helmet.  That was very hard for me to find until SlimBuds.

I also tested the Bluetooth phone capability on a bike ride around the neighborhood yesterday evening and the quality is excellent on the receiving and sending end...

All day comfort on the Slimbuds, might even buy a pair for the wifey so she can listen to the same music...quite happy with them.

I like my Jaybirds a lot too but they are too bulky to wear inside a helmet...but for plane travel they are excellent!

I purchased a pair of these and they do work great. Haven't tested the battery life, but reviews say 8+ hours.  One of the things I wanted to use them for was receiving GPS directions on the bike. I hoped they would replace the Bluetooth pod stuck like a wart on the side of my helmet. However, they do not work with my Schuberth C3 helmet. The magnets that allow the buds to snap together stick out too far and I cannot spread the helmet apart far enough to fit over them.
