Interview with Valvoline oil engineers
« on: December 01, 2018, 12:39:21 PM »
I ran across this interview with Valvoline engineers and Eric the Car Guy.
They are talking about car engines, but a lot of it was very informative

very interesting information about oils.

they talk about ZDDP about the 30 minute mark.

Indeed, it’s been to long.

What’s the best oil to use in a Guzzi?

Valvoline is the best... I worship at its altar... Sacrifice first born children to it... Anyone who doesn't use it is really dumb... How's that for contributing to an oil thread :-)

I'll argue that new oil is better than old.

That imported stuff is way too pricey (gc), for me. We use bear grease in winter & Ox lard in summer.  R3~

As a kid, working at a county service station, I did work for a gentleman who bought a new pickup every 100k miles, as did most of the farmers did. However different from the other farmers who changed their oil every 3k miles, this guy only changed the filter every 10k miles and at 100k it had the same oil it came with when he traded his truck. One nite while playing Rook in the back of the station one of the other farmers called him out as being irresponsible  and an idiot for his abuse of his truck. The " abuser" took the score pad and figured the cost of an oil change every 3k for 100k miles. He circled the final figure and pushed it across the table to his critic and stated "who's the idiot"? Just saying:)

CBD oil.

Yeah I'm not there yet but maybe soon.

My brother-in-law works sales for CBD software company and gets a fair amount of "free samples" and gave some to his Burmese Mountain Dog who's old and barely moves.  After a couple of doses he's up, moving around and wanting to go on walks.

The stuff works............

The only thing I can add to this "oil thread" is that the young lady in the Valvoline video sure is cute!

When I was 16 in 1971 I was working in a small town gas station but one that was directly on HWY 50 so you would get all kind of folk. A cute college age gal pulls up and give me a $5 for gas. I check the oil and it is not registering on the dip stick. I tell the gal about the oil and that she should not drive any further with out adding oil. She gets out of the car and lo and behold she is wearing a genuine very sheer see through blouse with no bra and a nice pair and says she has no more money for oil. Guess who bought her two quarts and took their time with the transaction?
