I left in 1978. Except for the occasional visit, I don't get back much. I have fond memories of riding in the Pine Barrens and runs to the northwest portion of the state. That was in my pre-Guzzi days.

Riding in the Pine Barrens is still good. Getting up to northwest Jersey is a pain with all the traffic.

I gotta agree with Cam, the red accents are nice, and help offset all the matte black.

Here's to hoping.

I should say she rarely wrenches anymore some excuses about protecting her professional hands (central lines, teeny-tiny breathing tubes etc).

So if a mechanic has to work on it, he probably has to ride it too, right?!?  :boozing:

I'm prediction you ride it more than she does.

And, with a V7 III in the house, the '13 V7 Stone will not get ridden as much, and next year gets replaced with:

Is it any wonder they can't keep dealers.

That's insane!  The dealer has to fix the manufacturers screw ups for free?

So as you already know I responded to your text this morning before I saw this post. I'll block and copy my response from there:

You never know, but I don't think so and this is why:

* I don't buy every year.
* Gonna take a while to refund the bike fund.
* Stone = the hardest to sell for the lowest amount. Might as well just keep it.
* Stone = best bike to ride with Jenn (or anyone who is less aggressive)
* Sporty = oldest: first in/first out
* Sporty = likely easiest to sell.
* Sporty = easiest to replace (more or less)
* I've already considered selling the Sporty.
* I really don't need 3 Harleys, but it'll be fun to have 3 Italian bikes
* It's always good to have a spare Guzzi

But for now, nah, I actually want to hold on to everything unless it's just too many bikes.

As for the CX, you're right, I still want one. Might be fun to replace the Sporty with one eventually. Jenn and I can each have our naked bikes w/ USD forks and duals. We can each have our backroad Guzzis. And I can have my behemoth tourer.

I like that idea.

See I'm already overthinking it.

OH, that's what Piaggio WANTED to pay them, I believe the owner renegotiated before signing the franchise deal(s).

Congratulations. What is the bike's number and which dealer did you buy it from?

Not sure of the number because I didn't ask and I'm pretty sure it's not tied to the VIN.

As for dealer, sit back for another long post.

I've bought all my Guzzis from local/regional dealers to help support them. On my last two Italian bikes, I paid slightly more than market to support the most local dealer and develop a relationship with them. (In one of those last two a dealer closer to Jay offered a price of almost $500 less but I stayed "loyal" to the most local dealer).

Every dealer I've purchased an Italian bike from already is out of business now, including Fast by Ferraci (from whom I got the last two).

So although I approached 3 "local" dealers there wasn't one who could get within $1-2k of the dealer in Accident, MD in MSRP alone, before we even talked about any other costs.

HELL, one who shall remain nameless, needed $1345 more JUST to get it off his floorplan account, and that would only be if he didn't charge any other fee (like freight or prep).

So I've got a road trip coming up to pick it up, but that was worth a couple of grand.

Congrats! And if you have ridden the III (after you have worked on the bike ) and find the handling better than that of your stone: well, invest in a Mupo fork set (not that expensive) and shove the fork up for about 15 mm. Then you should be on a par.

Someplace there's a thread on V7 III suspension mods. Know you don't even own the bike yet but you may want to upgrade the shocks and get stiffer springs if you'll be doing much 2-up riding on the bike. I went with stiffer Progressive springs on the front as I had way too much sag with my 200 lbs. Went with 1" longer Hagons Trails on the back with dual-rate springs for a little more legroom  (which Jen may not want) and more compliant action.

Nah, I've ridden Jay's V7 III Special and the suspension was fine. Hell, I didn't HAVE to upgrade the shocks on my V7, I only did that because I got a deal on take-offs cheap (along with a seat).

But on top of that Jenn + Seamus < Kev so I suspect they'll be FINE as is.

If anything Jenn noted she might want me to take a little preload OUT of the shocks as there really wasn't much sag the way the one she rode was set-up.

Ha ha, I saw those on AF1's website last night and showed them too her... she was amused, but didn't bite.

I was also thinking red adjustable levers but she things the stock ones will be fine (for now).

Right now the accessory list is looking small:

HB topcase rack
Sato racing sliders
Probably centerstand (for even easier valve adjustments, though I could always just use the roller insert on the lift)
possible Dart (now why did I give away Jay's old Dart and then sell the Marlin oooppss).
