CBD oil (a different oil thread)
« on: December 14, 2018, 10:41:06 AM »
Ads for the CBD hemp products are like snow-flakes on the 'net. I'm interested in that one of the claims is relief of the general joint pains than limit my enjoyment of riding (Guzzi content). Problem is what product to buy, which are real & which are scams.  Any body using the stuff? opinions? results?
Thanks,
Ron

I've talked to several people who swear by the stuff. One mother has a kid with rather severe CP, of course it didn't "heal" him but his seizures are less frequent. My sister in law was going through chemo, she swears it helped her cancer treatment. It certainly can't "hurt" worth a try <shrug> I'm not a fan of "big pharma" myself, for reasons of my own.

Yes it works. My wife uses it for her fibromyalgia and swears by it.  2 years ago, she was taking a full cup full of opioids per day and it was literally killing her.

She's went the all natural way with Hemp oils, CBD oils and other alternatives and is taking ZERO opioids per day now. This is a touchy subject for me because 154 people die per day from opioids, but since big pharma owns our law makers nothing will change.

I can personally testify as to the benefits of it, having seen it with my own eyes.  Has it cured her? Not at all. But it has for sure helped her get off of the big pharma peddled poisons and made her a much happier person.

Go see a naturopathic doctor that specializes in CBD.

Here in Oregon, it is everywhere, and I have friends who swear that the CBD oil almost eliminates their arthritis pain. She gave me some and it did nothing. Another friend in a care facility told me about another brand (Genesis Pharms) that really works for him, and I plan on getting some this weekend to try. I think it is like all those other snake oils they sell, none work for me, and you just have to find the one that does it for you.

My wife uses it for joint pain and it works. We buy it from a local hemp farmer -- Lab tests purportedly well under 3% THC. I've tried it for insomnia and it did nothing for me.

Before my wife got her medical marijuana card, she bought the magical butter machine and made her own tinctures as per the recipes.

https://store.magicalbutter.com/magicalbutter.html

And the lights are cool when cooking, especially after you have produced your first batch of oil.

I tried the CBD cream on my sore arms after heavier workouts on the weight machines.  I didn't get any relief so I decided to lighten up on the wights which has helped.

It is more for reducing inflammation of your joints than for muscles . Try Wintergreen oil for muscles .

Thanks Dusty.  I haven't wanted to regress and retreat from my workouts but I was constantly sore.  I would like to step up to what I had achieved but constant pain is too big a price.  Perhaps I can make a good balance between tougher workouts, rest and some of this Wintergreen?

As long as we're scratching the subject.  I am planning to get my medical card.  It's sort of rip-off considering it will run a couple hundred bucks but it will sure give peace of mind.   One of the local riders told me that I wouldn't be able to have a "concealed carry" card if I had a medical card and I laughed out loud.

Be sure to show your Medicare card when you apply. That way your 2 year card is only 20 bucks plus 2.50 credit card fee.  Some of the MMJ " doctors"   give 20% discount for veterans.   I paid 125 bucks for the Doctor visit.  Local okie law does not prevent you from a conceal carry and a mmj card.  It is still a Federal violation, however......

Just bought a new supply of R+R Medicinal 1000mg drops from Amazon, also available direct. This is hemp oil,no THC, organically grown, third party tested, guaranteed potency. I take it as a sleep aid, for which it works well. I don't get much relief from arthritis yet with it, but I'm told it takes a while for that to take effect. Many people with fibromyalgia consider it a wonder drug. CBD works differently for different people. Also, it's pretty pricey.

I work part time for a small family owned company that supplies convenience stores with just about everything you see behind the counter, cheaper brands of smokes, jerky, cigars, pipe tobacco, condoms, so forth.  Most of the locations are in remote areas in Southwestern parts of Virginia where when you go to the store you are not walking down the block, you are going to be gone for awhile.  We started handling CBD products about a year ago, and the rise in sales have been unbelievable. I had my doubts, being a long retired law enforcement officer, but the astonishing fact is a great majority of the sales are going to people in our age group.  According to store owners, they sell to repeat customers weekly, almost always for arthritis or general pain relief.  The most popular seems to be the oil, with gummies running a close second. I pull the stuff for orders a couple of days a week, but have never tried anything but the medicated CBD rub for some bone on bone pain in the neck area. I really didn't notice much more relief than using Icy Hot or other mentholated topicals.  I am going to my office Christmas party tomorrow night for a good surf and turf dinner and hopefully an envelope with a decent Christmas bonus.  We can all attest to the fact, the majority of the population is getting older, hurting more and looking for alternatives for pain.  Will this be the wave of the future, I am beginning to think so, sure hope it helps the amount in the envelope......

I am trying it for neuropathic pain related to spinal stenosis. I use a full spectrum heavy dose. I am getting no results. That said, I believe that everyone's body chemistry is different and one person's performance is no guarantee of another's future results.
After I had the back surgery to try to relieve the stenosis I used the smokeable stuff; it also didn't dull the pain much, but I didn't really care that it hurt.

I've been taking cbd oil for about six months, I think it helps with nerve pain from ms but it's subtle and the only way I could tell is to stop taking it, which I don't want to do. I'm learning there is cbd from hemp that is legal in all fifty states and cbd from marijuana that is only legal in states that allow medicinal marijuana.  I'm getting to the point of wanting to try about anything legal or not.

Good friend of my wife's has been on every dang thing Big Pharma has in their inventory for migraines. Poor gal has had them since she was 7 years old... she's now 35.

This summer NY started allowing medical herb... with limitations. I don't know all the details, but Denise (my wife's friend) got her first batch of CBD oil in late October. She was skeptical... until after about two weeks of using it daily, her migraines started going from multiple times a day to once a day to one every few days...

So, can it help? Absolutely! I wish the entire US of A would just decriminalize it. We're getting there... slowly. People are starting to understand that Big Pharma isn't interested in "curing" anything. They're interested in getting you hooked on their pills for the rest of your life...

My daughter has found good pain relief with the CBN (not CBD) patches that are available by mail.  They are a bit pricey and (in Michigan) do not qualify for insurance but really work well.  At least for her neropathy (spelling?) pain in her feet and lower legs.

I suffered with headaches from early memory until a few years ago.  I ate lots of Advils and before that it was Aspirin and Tylenol.  Typically I would have a weekly episode that would put me to bed.   Then I had a scare of internal bleeding and was told to give up the pills.  When he told me to stop taking Advil, I was worried that I might not function due to debilitating headaches.  Once I stopped taking them my headaches went away.  Haven't had regular headaches since.

I am glad your friend is having good luck with MM.  I think Pharma can be harmful to folks.  The worst I've seen was what the antidepressant Paxil did some someone I love dearly.  It screwed him up to the point of being emotionally dysfunctional and took him several months of cold turkey withdrawals to kick it (after the second try).  All that time, medical professionals were trying to force more of that shit on him and he had to kick this stuff on his own.  It worked.  He's still quirky as ever (endearingly), a college graduate and successful in his field.
