My Son's '95 1100 Sport...
« on: December 20, 2018, 07:16:19 PM »

He is going to thin the herd owning three Guzzis, I know, runs in the family.  He will be selling this one soon, probably after the new year.

What a freight train of an engine in a beautiful motorcycle.  Runs great, I dare say better than my '97 Sporti (Injected) model.

Nice looking ride my friend! Can you give any additional info like the current milage, does the bike need anything like new tires, any issues at all, still has the original straight-cut gears, how will the bike be sold (eBay), where is the bike located (which State)?

I always wanted one of those 1100 Spots..... :)

Hey Andy,
Mike has owned the Sport for about ten years, purchased from another Guzziphile that owned it since new, current mileage is 37K, it will need tires before a long season.  The Dunlop Roadsmart tires are at about 50% right now although that is hard to tell due to being a sport tire, little in the way of indicators and the traction and channeling grooves are not a great sign, to me at least... tires are such a personal preference that I would not dare switch them out for a new owner.

The body work is scratched here and there with an odd little raspberry on the left/front of the upper fairing as if a chafe mark, no other signs of a tip over so I do not know what that was caused by.  The black rims have the usual scares from tire changes.
It has one of those Liposection tail pieces which is slab sided, taking away the hips from the original Sport and allowing the use of side bags that don't stick out two inches farther.  Those are a matter of individual taste also, one either likes it or you don't.

The canisters are Mistrals CF cans I believe, no nameplate, Mistral cross over.  The front 320mm Brembos offer two finger braking, hauls it down from illegal speeds easily.

I have never sold a motorcycle on eBay, just advertise locally and on Wild Guzzi, ADV etc.  We are in Maine.

No other known issues.  I will do a full service, oil, filter, final drive and tranny, air filer (stock airbox and runners), balance the carbs etc.  No idea regarding the straight cut gears.

This is not a garage queen rather a ridden motorcycle and shows signs of wear due to strapping bags on and the aforementioned scratches. I will say that the performance from the carbie is Spot on though, just runs great.  And that sound... Wow.

The paint a respray in an anthracite grey that I had done for him over the Winter a few years back, I never did ask the painter for the source of the paint code though.

When I complete the service, after first of the year I'll get an ad up.

Best,
Rob

Rob, when you say two finger, you ain't kidding! I'd say one finger.
If you have been riding another bike recently, better get used to it before going too far.
Mistrals cans are just right, nice sound, w/o being too loud.
If someone has a back problem, switch the clip-ons left to right.
Helps a bit.

These are not City bikes.  They like to keep rolling. The worse part about owning one is stopping somewhere.  It will draw a crowd.  Every time I rode mine, people would roll down their windows or walk across parking lots to see it.  They are not a delicate or fragile motorcycle.  Very well built and solid.

Very nice bike. My only real issue is that unlike say an 850 LM, when you give it a serious thrashing you are going a serious speed.

That and getting into a heavy traffic situation.

True story yogi, I was trying to be conservative and make the statement believable...  you are correct though, one finger pull and be ready.

I forgot to mention the Heli-Bars...

Mike had tried the swap and that was better however, just that little bit more up and back from the Heli-Bars made all the difference.

Even though the Heli-Bars are made right here in Maine I had a bugger of a time to locate a set.  I found a set New on Fleabay about a year after Mike bought the Sport. perhaps the last set known to exist.

When I was using mine on a regular basis I put a set of Verlicchi multi adjustable bars on my '97 Sporti, huge help.

Best,
Rob

True, not a great in-town ride in my estimation, likes to get out and run.  And not for the faint of heart, brutal in almost every aspect, a real visceral machine.

And that first statement is exactly why my '97 Sporti had to leave.  At sixty plus I still did not have the brains to keep my fist out of the happy handle, I will not go into how many "Performance Awards" I have been handed, I'll leave that for telling stories around the campfire.  ;)

We do not have heavy traffic situations here...

Ciao,
Rob

Rob, I bought a set of helibars before I found out about flipping the originals. I bet they might be hard to find now.
The tall first gear is not a friend of stop n go either.
