Is Mecum really that clueless? "1953" Morini 125

Yes, they make errors occasionally, but not intentionally...

The last one I read was a description of a Kawasaki H2 Mach III 500cc which they called "The WINDOW-Maker" - - - and it should have read:  "The WIDOW-Maker!"

I often have to turn the volume down, after listening to some of the inane comments by the "knowledgeable" hosts.  I think perhaps they rely on the info from the seller,s but often they just try to outdo each other on their knowledge.  One time, the "expert" was telling about the 1972 Triumph Trident as the new "oil in frame" model with the "Ceriani" forks. And the twin port AJS was a "twin cylinder" bike.

My favorite was the RC30 and RC45 auctioned together as a lot. The announcer described the difference being the RC45 as having a smaller displacement.

They don't pay that much attention to their listings, and in fairness the bidders should know what they are bidding on. Caveat  emptor.

Mecum has a Alazzurra 350 listed as a "1991 Cagiva Alazzurra 650". The mistake would be forgivable if the big 350 decal wasn't clear as day and the owners manual with Alazzurra 350 wasn't pictured. Loopframe V7 listed as a V7 sport, etc.

If you can't take the time and trouble to read the name of the bike WRITTEN on the sides, maybe you don't take so much time and trouble to take care of the bike, either, hmmm?

I heard lots of incorrect and plain dumb descriptions of bikes being given live at the Las Vegas auction. I think Mecum's expertise lies in the muscle car market.


This Gilera Saturno Sport would sure look good in my garage! It's from Buddy Stubbs museum in Phoenix and it is a real nice bike! I remember an article a couple years ago of Alan Cathcart riding one and speaking very highly of it.
